Do you love technology? Many of our favorite gaming, coding and programming classes are brought to you through our partnership with Black Rocket. The projects you work hard to create during camp will be saved to their password-protected website to share with friends and family. You can also enjoy Black Rocket classes year after year; returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years.

IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

College for Kids brings In Your Neighborhood (IYN) summer camps to a variety of locations convenient for you and your family. In Your Neighborhood camps are designed for children between the ages 5-11. These creative and fun programs build curiosity, life skills and academic confidence with topics that kids love to explore.

BUILD YOUR OWN “IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD” DAY CAMP EXPERIENCE

Schedule up to three camp experiences at one location to enhance the summer camp experience.

1: Choose a convenient location.

2: Select one camp in each time frame for your child’s age — up to three camps total.

3: Register online or by phone.

4: On the day of camp, your child will be escorted between classrooms to each registered session.

HOURS AND HOLIDAYS

IYN camps run only in the mornings. Check out the College for Kids and College for Teens sections in this mailer for additional educational opportunities.

IYN classes for College for Kids are held Monday through Thursday. There will be no camps held June 19 or July 4 — camps are not affected by these holidays for 2026.

DRESS FOR THE MESS

Classes can get messy. Students should wear clothes that they don't mind getting stained.

AGES

IYN camps have activities geared toward social, fine-motor and intellectual skills of children ages 5-11. In order to help your family plan for summer, IYN camps are published by age below each location. Any 5-year-old who has completed kindergarten may be enrolled in a class for 6-year-olds.

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP INFORMATION

ID will be checked when picking up children after camp. Parents/guardians can add authorized pick-up representatives during registration. Please see your enrollment receipt for any camp-specific information.

In case of rain, students will wait inside the main entrance for pickup.

Animal Adventures

High Fives (age 5)

Get ready to draw, write, cut and glue, paint and work on art projects! Using engaging activities that appeal to 5-year-olds who will enter kindergarten in the fall, High Fives covers concepts that include days of the week, months, the alphabet, counting, simple math and patterns. There will be a snack each day.

1-2-3 Crafting

Explore texture, color and design skills as you create projects to keep or give. Our experienced instructor will help you take your design idea from concept through completion of your project.

3D Pen Creations

Discover how to create amazing 3D objects that can be brought to life with a 3D pen. You will literally have the technology at your fingertips to draw, connect and engineer artwork, exploring the spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills that turn 2D fragments into a 3D project.

What do you know about animal camouflage? Did you know that some creatures have the power to regenerate? Animals have developed an amazing range of behaviors, physical attributes and changes, migration patterns and other cool strategies for survival. Join us to explore the astonishing powers of the creature world.

Artwork Lab

Discover the joy of expressing yourself through artistic mediums like pottery, drawing and painting while you learn techniques to enhance your skills.

Art Ventures

Travel the world through art! Explore and create art inspired by Europe, Asia, Africa and other cultures around the world!

Build Your Own Board Game

Playing board games builds skills and strategic thinking, but designing your own unique board game requires a different strategy. You and your fellow game designers will come up with rules, fun challenges and a competitive game objective. Explore various game structures as you work with your team to build a board game everyone will want to play!

Can You Dig It?

From dinosaurs to ancient civilizations, students will discover how paleontologists and archaeologists piece together the mysteries of history – one bone, artifact shard or fossil at a time.

Charm It Off: Friendship Bracelets and Era Vibes

Celebrate your favorite eras and lyrics by creating colorful and unique friendship bracelets. Learn fun ways to design and craft bracelets that reflect your favorite songs, albums and memories.

Chemical Reactions

Bubbles! Eruptions! Changes in color! This course is all about what happens in chemical reactions. You will conduct experiments that demonstrate both slow and fast reactions. Come learn some mad science!

Chess Champions

This is the ultimate class for aspiring strategists. Dive into the fascinating world of chess and sharpen your mind with every move.

Dance Blast

This fun and energetic dance class combines ballet and hip-hop, and will end with a complete dance routine!

FitFun Club

Designed to ignite a passion to stay active through exercise, this course combines games, challenges and teamwork to boost coordination, strength and confidence through creative and enjoyable workouts.

Gross Me Out!

The human body is full of gross stuff ... we’ll learn about it all!

Jr. Detective Training

Be your own crime scene investigator as you capture and record impressions, take measurements and make your examination of the scene. Learn to solve crimes through photography, fingerprinting, investigative questioning and analyzing footprints and teeth prints.

Junior Engineers

Are you a budding inventor, problem-solver or builder at heart? Spark your imagination with hands-on, interactive projects and challenges.

Kitchen Chemists

Everyday kitchen items and household materials become the basis of fascinating chemistry experiments. These seemingly ordinary items spark curiosity as the chemical reactions fizz, foam, solidify and change color.

Language Explorers: Spanish

Learn basic words and phrases in Spanish. End the week by performing a skit in Spanish!

Free Friday STEM

You’re invited! Join us at certain In Your Neighborhood locations on the Friday after camp for a special, free Friday STEM session. Find a date and time at a location convenient for you and your family, then come meet our friendly robots Gizmo and Diablo. We will also have our cool traveling Robotics and Urban Agriculture trailer, live demonstrations, STEM activities and show-and-tell to explore how using 3D printing for hydroponic gardening can extend the growing season. Registration for these sessions is requested but not required.

The Robotics and Urban Agriculture trailer, events and classes are sponsored by the Build Back Better Challenge grant through the U.S. Department of Economic Development.

COLLEGE FOR KIDS AND TEENS – SUMMER CAMP AIDE

You can make a difference this summer while having fun. College for Kids and Teens aides are essential for ensuring that our summer programs run smoothly. Aides will assist with camps for students ages 5-18 in a variety of subjects. Must be 18 or older. This summer job is perfect for future teachers!

Cancellations made by MCC are fully refunded. Full refunds will be issued to students who withdraw from most camps/workshops at least one business day prior to the camp start date. For Culinary Arts camps, students must withdraw at least seven days prior to the camp start date to qualify for a full refund. No credit will be issued for any camps/workshops dropped on or after the camp’s start date. To withdraw your registration, call 531-MCC-5231.

It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to notify us of any allergies that a student may have and should note those at the time of registration. Please note, courses held at the Institute for the Culinary Arts are held in commercial kitchens with allergens present, and while all efforts possible will be made to keep students out of direct contact with allergens, no room can be guaranteed as allergen-free.

LIABILITY

MCC assumes no liability for accidents that occur while participating in College for Kids or College for Teens classes and provides no funds to cover medical costs. Participants are reminded that participation is entirely voluntary and are strongly urged to have their own health insurance.
