We just hired a new admin, and on his first day, we used Glean to develop and refine his 30/60/90 day onboarding plan and start to develop performance and development goals to input in Success Factors. I loved that Glean could draw from the role description to customize these for him.

PROJECT EVENTS &
MILESTONE CELEBRATIONS HILLTOP SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS OPENS ITS DOORS It's showtime at Hilltop School for the Arts! Agua Fria Union High School District and the West Valley community recently celebrated the ribbon cutting and first day of school at the district's new arts-focused high school in Litchfield Park. The new campus, designed in collaboration with ADM Group, Inc., gives students dedicated spaces to explore dance, recording, media, theater, and other creative pathways while building skills that can take them "from artistry to industry," as Hilltop Principal Julie Jones shared during the celebration. This opening marks an exciting first chapter for Hilltop, with the campus' more than 700-seat Performing Arts Center nearing completion this fall and set to welcome the community for dynamic arts entertainment. We are proud to help create a place where students can be seen, heard, and feel empowered to follow their dreams.

UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA'S MEDICAL INNOVATIONS BUILDING TAKES SHAPE Downtown Phoenix is one step closer to welcoming a new hub for innovation and impact as we recently celebrated the concrete topping out at the Medical Innovations Building (MIB). This milestone reflects the dedication, coordination, and craftsmanship of the teams working together to bring a shared vision with SmithGroup to life. With the building's defining design features now beginning to take shape, the project is moving closer to its future as a center for research and discovery.
VIEW THE SOCIAL POST HERE RE APPRENTICESHIP GRADUATION After many early mornings, on-the-job learning, and a commitment to mastering their craft, a new cohort of apprentices has reached a major milestone: completing the program and making a significant impact across McCarthy's renewable energy projects. The program works because of the apprentices who show up every day, the mentors who guide them, and the project teams who invest in making it happen. It truly takes a village, and we are proud of every partner who took part in it. Congratulations, graduates!

INVESTING IN THE PEOPLE WHO
Build McCarthy Behind every project we deliver is a craft workforce that shows up with skill, grit, and a commitment to doing the work right. Craft Appreciation Week is a chance to say what should be said year-round: the people in the field are the backbone of everything McCarthy builds, and their contributions make a difference in communities across the country. We are proud to invest in the people who make that possible. Through training programs, mentorship, and resources like the Innovation and Craft Workforce Center, the goal is simply to give great people the support and opportunities they deserve. Thank you to every craft professional who brings their best to the work each day! Read more information about our craft workforce and Craft Appreciation Week on the Intranet.

& PARTNERSHIPS THE GREATEST SHOW IN EDUCATION Our Education group made a strong showing at the Arizona Association of School Business Officials' (AASBO) 73rd Annual Conference and Exposition in Tucson. With nearly 20 partners on the ground, the team engaged district leaders from across Arizona at a fully produced, circus-themed booth complete with custom giveaways, an interactive card game, and rotating project highlights that sparked meaningful conversations throughout the expo floor. Beyond the booth, McCarthy hosted a client dinner and a pool cabana, creating personal connection moments that went well beyond a standard conference experience. It was a strong showing for the Southwest EDU team and a reminder of why AASBO remains one of the most valuable relationship-building opportunities of the year.

INTERNS WRAP UP SUMMER '26
For our summer interns, the season has been all about building their futures in construction. From time spent in the field to collaboration with teams in the office, no two days have looked exactly the same. Each experience has brought new opportunities to get hands-on, learn from seasoned builders, and explore where a career in construction can lead. As the summer comes to a close, we are proud of the curiosity, commitment, and energy each intern brought to the table. Whether they are returning to school or stepping into the next chapter of their careers, they leave with real experience, meaningful relationships, and a solid foundation to build on. Thank you to everyone across the company who invested their time in mentoring the next generation of builders!

For the 2026 Back-to-School Campaign, the team delivered curated supply bundles and catered Einstein Bros breakfasts to school campuses across the Greater Phoenix area. Elementary schools especially lit up at the sight of the supply packages, a reminder of what McCarthy does best: showing up, prepared and genuine, for the communities where the team builds.

27TH AVENUE MRF UPGRADES NAMED PROJECT OF THE YEAR The 27th Avenue Materials Recovery Facility Upgrades Project has been named the APWA Arizona Chapter's Project of the Year for Environment in its category, and the McCarthy team was there to accept the honor at the APWA Awards Luncheon. The completed facility expands the City of Phoenix's recycling capabilities and marks an important step forward in advancing Phoenix's zero waste by 2050 strategy, helping reduce landfill use, strengthen the region's circular economy, and support a more sustainable future. A great win for the team and the community they built for.

McCarthy Breaks Ground on Tempe Anchor Campus Set to welcome partners in early 2028, the McCarthy Anchor Campus reimagines the former Fiesta Inn to serve as a home for professional development, technical training, and collaboration. In a Design-Build partnership with SmithGroup and Pyramid Global Hospitality, the 12-acre campus will feature flexible classrooms, breakout spaces, wellness amenities, and collaborative outdoor spaces in addition to lodging for the company’s visiting employee-owners.
Construction Nears 60% Completion on Active Wastewater Treatment Plant Overhaul McCarthy is nearing the finish line on improvements to Johnson County’s Nelson Wastewater Treatment Facility. With design from Black & Veatch, HDR, and GBA, the project aims to create a new, modernized facility to better accommodate Kansas Department of Health and Environment treatment standards and meet the needs of more than 130,000 local residents. While keeping the plant online, the team is phasing construction of the new plant.
Where Construction Investment Goes, Economic Growth Follows With commerical real estate construction accounting for roughly one-fifth of the U.S. GDP, the industry is only accelerating its impact on the communities it serves. Scott Canada explains that, in order for communities to maximize the economic benefits that result from construction, they must equip and develop the right skilled tradespeople to sustain construction within their community.
Agua Fria’s Hilltop Welcomes First Students Kicking off the fall semester, the Hilltop School for the Arts opened its doors to its inaugural class of students, with freshmen celebrating the ribbon cutting of the new classroom facility. Agua Fria Union High School District’s newest school campus serves as the West Valley’s hub for arts education and entertainment, with a two-story specialized classroom facility and a state-of-the-art performing arts center, set to open later this Fall. The school rests atop the historic La Loma Hilltop, a monument of Litchfield Park.

PASSING OF THE TORCH Just days after McCarthy announced its newest round of leadership moves, Matt Lyons stepped into his new role as COO of Renewables, handing the Southwest Education Business Unit Leader reins to Carlos Diaz. So when the two showed up twinning from head to toe, it was hard not to call it what it looked like: training day. Consider it official — Carlos has clearly been taking notes on more than just wardrobe. Here's to a smooth handoff, a shared closet, and a new chapter for Education under Carlos's lead. Congrats to both Carlos and Matt on the new roles — and for accidentally giving us the easiest photo caption of the year.
