Bellringers during the month of January.
KANSAS CITY MISSOURI NORTHLAND PUMP STATION AND PIPELINE
Client: Kansas City, Missouri | Value: $20M | Fee: 15%
This is a strategic win in many ways! As a new client with a tier 1 project around the corner, it is a significant milestone for KCMO to trust our team with this critical work, as we build a relationship, and expand our civil self-perform opportunities. The project was called more of a “program” and has a high likelihood of growing in value. Also, we see the margin as an opportunity for even further enhancement with significant self-perform opportunities.

It also allows us to continue work in Utah, following the Milford 2 and Fremont projects in the state.

“The entire McCarthy group at 91st Ave were great to work with. Always very courteous, professional and proactive in asking the right questions and working through some design and install complications that always occur on projects like this.”
- Jerry Holdaway, Executive Management, Thermair Systems
I was writing a summary email to RLT the other day, and I wanted to add in a McCarthy core value to bring my message together without losing the core of what I was trying to convey. I typed up a draft of my email in my own voice, and asked Glean to help me tie it all together with the core value."

Tighten up this email draft without sacrificing my tone. I'd like to weave in one McCarthy core value in a subtle way. Identify which core value makes the most sense and where to include it.

“Working with Joe, David, Jeremy, Sydney, Luis, Bryon and Ethan is great. They’re very supportive and attentive with any issues that arise and always do their best to help in any way they can.”

The T3N2 team successfully completed a tandem crane pick as part of their first week of structural steel erection. This complex operation took place overnight as the airport closed down Sky Harbor Boulevard for crane use. Careful planning, coordination, and teamwork made the night work a success. The two largest steel pieces scheduled for installation each weigh more than 65,000 pounds, making this an impressive start to the project.
Excitement is on the rise, and so are the V-columns at the Biomedical Research Facility with 11 out of 11 columns poured and stripped. The attention to quality and detail from our self-perform concrete teams are propelling the project in a strong way.

At Lafitte, a successful project is coming to a close. Project substantial completion was received on December 19th, more than a month ahead of schedule. After taking a short break for the holidays, the team quickly completed hot commissioning activities. The performance team delivered outstanding capacity and combiner current test results, and the site team is now demobilizing while finishing punchlist items before final completion. The entire team can be proud of the quality work delivered in support of RWE. Final Completion is expected this month, ahead of schedule.

In case you missed it, on Jan. 9 members of the Anchor Center Core Team, our property acquisition and site team, and Southwest Region leadership came together to officially turn over the keys to the future Anchor Center property. This 12-acre campus will be our new hub for employee learning, leadership and development—and a major milestone made possible by many hands across the company. The Anchor Center is an investment that reinforces our commitment to people, performance and culture, serving as a dedicated home for developing our people, innovating our approach, and setting the standard for how we learn and grow together. Its central location and proximity to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport will make travel easier and more efficient for teams across the company. Over the next 18–24 months, we’ll move through planning, design and construction, including a thoughtful process to select a design partner to help bring our vision for the Anchor Center to life. Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting project progresses.

This MLK Day, partners, families, and project teams turned a “day off” into a “Day On” of service, reflecting our culture of giving back in the communities where we live and work. Across Arizona, our McCarthy family packed meals and emergency food boxes, crafted blankets for patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and joined community leaders at the 40th Annual Living the Dream Awards Breakfast. Together, these efforts demonstrate McCarthy’s ongoing commitment to service, equity, and honoring Dr. King’s legacy through meaningful action.
Partners Jennifer A., Raymundo Sanchez, Morgan Walls, Connor Roberts, Kim Zittle, Salma De Los Rios, Sebastien St. Hilaire, Gabriella Cancellieri, Kaitlin Lang, and Natalie Fortin spent MLK Day volunteering alongside partners from the Renewables team at St. Mary’s Food Bank. The team packed 1,656 emergency food boxes and 1,320 senior boxes, helping serve 2,976 neighbors across the community. Every box represented care, teamwork, and a shared commitment to service.

PHOENIX
For the second year in a row on MLK day, Robert Fout and his family volunteered and provided blankets to the Phoenix Children’s Hospital Arrowhead Campus in Glendale, Arizona. They purchased no-sew fleece blanket kits, then trimmed, cut, and tied them. Once finished, they were delivered to the hospital. Robert said that volunteering together brought a sense of warmth and teamwork to his family, especially knowing that these blankets would bring comfort to children and families in the hospital.

The Vantage AZ1 volunteered at a food-packing session with Feed My Starving Children. Together, the team packed 234 boxes, providing 50,544 meals; enough to feed 134 children a daily meal for an entire year! We’re proud to support our community and make a real difference in the lives of children in need.
McCarthy was honored to sponsor and attend the 40th Annual Living the Dream Awards Breakfast in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It was a privilege to join community leaders in recognizing this year’s recipients who continue to make a meaningful impact through their service and leadership.

Marcus Gillmore and other members of the water team hosted industry contacts at the Kansas City Engineers Club’s Shrimp Bingo event. The team went all in with a rock-and-roll theme, and everyone dressed the part. The night included all-you-can eat shrimp, bingo, and great company, with all proceeds benefiting engineering student scholarships. Thank you to everyone involved for representing the company so well and supporting the future of the engineering profession.

The McCarthy Run Club, sponsored by the Southwest Wellness team, ran the 10K and half-marathon in mid January. The team spent months prepping for the race, including participating in weekly Run Club events where partners ran after work. Congratulations to the 20 McCarthy partners who ran, and a big thank you to Tyler Beddo for organizing!
The project engineers at Vantage AZ1 recently started a local flag football league to build team cohesion and stay active. In the first game of the season, the team came out strong with a 71 - 6 win. Thank you for bringing energy and teamwork to everything done on this project.

Thank you to our Metro Tech partners for outstanding work in the field and on the first NIRON fusion. This milestone showcases strong skill, attention to detail, and a clear commitment to quality. The team has passed every inspection with no issues, all while staying on or ahead of the Primavera P6 schedule.

That level of performance takes focus, teamwork, and pride in the work. The city inspector even shared that the quality of work is the best seen to date, which speaks volumes about the skill, craftsmanship, and dedication this group brings every day. The work completed is a great example of teamwork and craftsmanship in action and reflects the high standards that define McCarthy Mechanical.
Special thanks to partners Scott Wolfe and Jack Saettle for their outstanding efforts and for representing the team so well. Appreciation goes to all of the partners involved for the pride you take in your work and for everything you do. Great job, and keep up the excellent work.

A big thank you and shout out to the McCarthy Mechanical partners supporting the Agua Fria Hilltop project. Partner Nelson Cabrales has been with McCarthy Mechanical for three years and continues to stand out through dedication and strong work ethic. Showing up early, prepared, and motivated sets a positive tone each day. A willingness to learn, positive attitude, and teamwork make Nelson a key asset to the team and a true example of being all in at McCarthy. Partner Victor Barron plays an important role on the jobsite, bringing experience, leadership, and teamwork to keep the project moving safely and efficiently. Thank you to both partners for the hard work, pride, and commitment shown every day. The efforts and contributions are truly appreciated.
Strong progress is being made at Madison Rose Lane Elementary School as the Self-Perform steel team completes steel erection for the roof joists. Thank you to the partners involved for the focus and teamwork shown on site.

I want to take a moment to recognize and thank our Office Manager Group (Carrie, Madi, Brittney and Angi) for the work they do every day to support our people and our offices. This group has played a key role in creating consistency across locations, shaping everything from day-to-day office operations to the experience our teams have when they walk through the door. Eight months ago, this group brough forward the recommendation to move the offices to open parking. They listened, they researched, and they developed a practical solution that maximizes our space and partner experience.
Their collaboration, communication, and problem-solving mindset have brought stronger alignment across all offices. Most importantly, this team helps keep us connected - to our spaces, to each other, and to a consistent way of working. I’m grateful for their dedication and the care they bring to their roles. Please join me in recognizing our incredible office management team.

The Better Together Summit & Expo, hosted by Salt River Project (SRP), Arizona Public Service (APS), and Southwest Gas, brought together industry leaders and small businesses to highlight emerging opportunities within the energy and utility sectors while emphasizing the critical role small business participation plays in supporting infrastructure growth. Utility leadership provided in-depth perspectives on the increasing energy demands across Arizona, outlining both the operational challenges they face and the strategic initiatives underway to ensure reliable, sustainable service for the state’s rapidly growing population. A featured highlight of the event was McCarthy’s collaborative partnership with Station Power, spotlighted during a panel discussion, which celebrated Station Power’s first contract award with McCarthy on the Casino Del Sol project in Tucson and demonstrated how intentional partnerships can drive meaningful relationships for

The Renewable Energy Quality and Self-Perform Electrical partners are launching a Renewable Energy Rework Tracking initiative to standardize how rework is identified and managed. As a first-quarter priority in the 2026 AOP, CMiC will serve as the system of record for all mechanical and electrical rework. When rework occurs, partners must charge time and cost to the designated rework phase codes rather than base production so the work can be tracked and improved. Accurate coding allows comparison of forecast versus actual results, connects rework to root causes, and feeds improvements back into work plans, inspection templates, and training. When phase codes are used correctly, the team moves from reacting to issues to proactively controlling quality, cost, and schedule. All partners are encouraged to use the correct rework phase codes and help ensure rework is visible, measurable, and continually improving.

To further McCarthy’s core investments through Vision 2028, the company recently announced its purchase of the former DoubleTree Hotel in Tempe as the future Anchor Center. With architecture inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, the hotel is a core nod to Arizona landscape, and will bring thousands of partners nationwide for centralized training and development programs.
The project team at the City of Mesa’s Signal Butte Water Treatment Plant celebrated completion of the plant’s second 8-million-gallon reservoir — an incredible effort by the team’s self-perform concrete partners. After building the original reservoir nearly two decades ago, McCarthy navigated tight site logistics with only 12 feet between both reservoirs. To accomplish this, the team worked in segments through pouring 40-by-40-foot squares. The new reservoir also uses an advanced leak detection system for longterm plant operations.
As solar energy continues to account for significant portions of the nation’s energy generation, these projects not only provide key economic benefits to rural communities; they also provide community members new career path opportunities and longterm growth. This article shares the stories of three McCarthy apprentices who have uncovered new skills and continue to pave their futures with McCarthy.
Business Development Manager Natalie Carroll shared some of the many ways McCarthy aims to preserve the rich history and tradition of each school campus during construction. From providing parent forums and thoroughly integrating teacher feedback into design charrettes, to integrating flexible learning environments with existing curriculum needs, these projects aim to serve the education needs; not the other way around.
