MEET OFFICESPACE

ENHANCING CLARITY & COLLABORATION ACROSS OUR 3 OFFICES

On behalf of the Southwest Office Manager Group, we are excited to announce our Southwest Region will be piloting OfficeSpace, a modern space management tool designed to create a more dynamic and responsive workplace, across all 3 offices. If you’ve ever walked into the office unsure where to sit, struggled to find an open conference room, or wished you could sit closer to teammates you were collaborating with in the office, OfficeSpace was built for exactly that.

At its core, OfficeSpace is about giving our partners more flexibility and visibility in how we use our offices together. You’ll have a clearer, simpler way to find and use available workspaces—whether you need a spot between meetings or want to sit near colleagues for quick collaboration.

WHAT CAN OFFICESPACE DO?

Think of it as your go-to hub for everything workspace-related:

• Navigate the office — Get a clear picture of available spaces across our offices, so guests and new team members can find their way without the confusion.

• Book a desk — Reserve your spot in advance from any device, whether you're planning ahead or deciding day-of.

• Book a meeting room — Easily search, reserve, and manage conference room reservations so you're not scrambling for a space when it matters most.

• Find your teammates — See who’s in the office on any given day for in-person connections.

We also have some good timing on our side. Getting OfficeSpace up and running before our interns join us will give them a clear, welcoming way plug into their teams right away. We look forward to welcoming our interns staring May 11th.

WHAT IS HAPPENING NEXT?

Over the next few months, here’s what you can expect:

• Local experts on the ground - Office managers and admins will be our local experts helping you navigate OfficeSpace.

• Training and quick-start guides - We’ll make sure every partner knows exactly how to log in, find a desk, or reserve a room before we’re live. Please be on the look out for calendar holds to come. We encourage all office team members to attend training.

• OfficeSpace will be available to all Southwest partners starting the week of May 4th.

This is about creating an office experience that matches the way we want to work together: collaborative and connected.

Please reach out to your Southwest Office Manager Group with any questions. More to come soon!

AT OUR PROJECTS

PROJECT EVENTS &

MILESTONE CELEBRATIONS

CELEBRATING THE DOME LIGHTING AT VAHI TAA’AM

TOPPING OUT THE AQUA FRIA HILLTOP SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS

Partners celebrated the topping out milestone at Agua Fria Union High School District’s The Hilltop School for the Arts. The new 116,000 square foot campus will become a vibrant hub for the arts in the West Valley, bringing students and the community together through theater performances, rehearsal spaces, dance and music studios, and public events. City of Litchfield Park Mayor Schoaf shared, “Today’s beam signing represents more than the raising of steel; it reflects the strength of our community and our shared commitment to the future. This project on the hilltop is a symbol of progress, collaboration, and pride, and I’m honored to be part of a moment that will stand for generations to come.” Partners are proud to help bring this creative vision to life and look forward to welcoming students this fall.

CASINO DEL SOL ELECTRICAL MILESTONES ACHIEVED

The electrical scope for the Casino Del Sol parking garage is nearing completion as the project enters final installation, testing, and closeout. Major milestones, including medium voltage installation, transformer setting, and primary feeder installation, have been completed and energized in coordination with Tucson Electric Power. The team is now focused on final installations, punch list items, and preparing for inspections, while continuing to coordinate with trade partners and scale down in completed areas.

Tucson’s skyline shined a little brighter as partners celebrated the dome lighting at Vahi Taa’am. Seeing the 28,000 pound copper dome illuminated atop the newest Casino Del Sol project was a moment of pride for everyone involved, especially the Old Pascua Community and the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, whose traditions and vision inspire this work. This milestone represents more than stunning architecture; it honors the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s traditions while looking ahead to a future that will create new jobs and strengthen Southern Arizona’s economic impact.

TOLLESON UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT GROUNDBREAKING

McCarthy, DLR, Root architects and Tolleson Union High School District broke ground on a new 90,000-square-foot Training and Learning Center, set to open in spring 2027. The first floor will house a family resource center with a demo kitchen, library, and spaces for teens and children, connecting parents to community services. The building will also provide a permanent home for the district’s distance learning academy.

OVERNIGHT PROGRESS ON THE SKY HARBOR T3N2 PROJECT

While many were sleeping, partners were hard at work installing two steel beams, each just under 22 tons, above Sky Harbor Boulevard. This work is part of the future pedestrian bridge that will connect the new concourse to Terminal 3. This milestone highlights the skill, coordination, and dedication of everyone involved.

EAGLE SPRINGS PROJECT UPDATE

Eagle Springs finished medium-voltage plow and direct-current underground work, and partners are now installing load break disconnects and terming feeders to them wrapping up medium-voltage cabinets and third party testing. The team will then focus on direct-current feeder insulation resistance testing and messenger cable installation, with wire harness deliveries expected soon. As for the BESS scope, direct current underground rough-in is finished. Self perform civil partners will start excavation for augmentation and auxiliary work, followed by conduit and sectionalized cabinet installation. Coordination with photovoltaic continues for third party testing.

SUNDANCE BESS MILESTONES ACHIEVED!

The BESS scope at Sundance has had impressive progress! The team has received all batteries, switchboards, transformers, and the fire control center. Photovoltaic work is nearly complete, with medium-voltage and direct-current terminations progressing, and four blocks finished. The fiber team has started out on site and has also begun their terminations at the inverter. Supervisory control and data acquisition field network enclosures and network control units have been hung for the photovoltaic system, as well as the field network enclosures and the master plant controller in Area 1 for the battery energy storage system. A major win this month was receiving all 48 batteries and major equipment, helping bring the site together and build strong momentum.

CORDIA ENERGY CENTER GROUNDBREAKING

Randal Gustine and Mike Lesiak joined Mayor Kate Gallego and leaders from The University of Arizona, Arizona State University, and Cordia Energy for the groundbreaking of Cordia’s Plant Four central plant. The plant will add 10,200 tons of capacity to downtown Phoenix’s district chilled water loop, supporting UA CAMI, ASU Health, and future downtown projects.

Phoenix Heart Walk

Over 100 Southwest partners and their families joined the American Heart Association’s Phoenix Heart Walk! Cardiovascular disease claims a life every 34 seconds in the United States, making awareness and early detection critical. Partners came together to raise awareness, promote heart health, and support this important cause. Women In Construction Week

Women in Construction (WIC) Week was a company-wide celebration of the women who shaped our industry across jobsites, offices, and leadership roles. The week recognized the contributions of female partners and trade partners, creating meaningful moments of appreciation through jobsite and office celebrations, client events, and internal recognition efforts. Activities were designed to foster connection, professional development, and open dialogue, and all partners were encouraged to participate. Together, we highlighted the strength, knowledge, and impact of women in construction while reinforcing our commitment to an inclusive, supportive workplace.

91ST AVENUE 2B WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

Partners on the Casino del Sol team took part in the National Association of Women in Construction Tool Night, creating a space to learn, connect, and grow together. The event brought together women from across the industry for an engaging and hands on experience. Partners had the opportunity to work with hand and power tools while learning skills such as caulking, plumbing, reading floor plans, irrigation systems, and drywall repair.

CAMI
CASINO DEL SOL

Partners on the Vantage Data Center AZ1 project team hosted an on site event to recognize the women who help plan, build, and support the campus each day. The gathering was a fun way to say thank you, highlight career paths in construction, and bring partners together. It also reinforced the importance of creating opportunities for growth and visibility across the jobsite.

VANTAGE

INDUSTRY EVENTS

& PARTNERSHIPS

SUPPORTING THE NEXT GENERATION OF INDUSTRY LEADERS

McCarthy hosted the Concrete Contractors Association of Arizona Young Leaders Committee kickoff at ICWC, bringing partners together to support the future of the industry. The workshop gave partners the opportunity to take part in a brainstorming session focused on how the committee will make an impact across the state this year. Partners interested in getting involved with the Concrete Contractors Association of Arizona are encouraged to explore ways to participate. As a founding member, McCarthy is proud to support efforts that build strong connections and develop future leaders across the industry.

ARIZONA CONSTRUCTION CAREER DAYS (AZCCD) 2026!

At AZCCD, our partners had the chance to connect with high school students and showcase what a career in the trades can look like. From nail-driving competitions to operating a mini excavator, our booth was all about hands-on experiences that brought construction careers to life. It’s always rewarding to show the next generation that McCarthy offers multiple meaningful, high-impact career paths, whether through college or hands-on training, each built on skill, growth, and pride in the work. Thank you to all partners who helped make this event a success!

VANTAGE DATA CENTER ADOPT-A-PE!

Some of the most valuable construction knowledge is not written down. It comes from partners who have spent years working in the field and learning through experience. The Adopt-a-Project Engineer initiative at the Vantage AZ1 campus in Goodyear pairs project engineers with a different superintendent every two weeks to walk the job. This rotation gives partners the chance to learn from each superintendent’s unique perspective. Through this approach, partners gain real world insight, strengthen their skills, and continue building the next generation of builders on the project.

STOCK PRICE ANNOUNCEMENT AND SPIRT OF OWNERSHIP AWARD

Talk about a double win: our 2025 ESOP stock price climbed to $654.17, up a jaw-dropping 33.7% from last year. Additionally, the Phoenix Sky Harbor Terminal 3 N2 Concourse (T3N2) crew took home the 2026 Mike Bolen Spirit of Ownership Award for living “All In,” “We, Not I” and “Genuine” every single day. Together, this big stock jump and a SW cultural win show exactly what happens when we build great projects, strong partnerships and an ownership mindset at the same time. Cheers to T3N2, and to every employee-owner who helped make this year one for the books.

MESA PUBLIC SCHOOLS INNOVATION AND DESIGN TOUR

McCarthy hosted approximately 40 Mesa Public Schools Red Mountain juniors and seniors at our ICWC and Chandler Prefab offices for a hands-on, career-focused experience that showcased the breadth of career paths available in construction, far beyond traditional hard-hat roles. Students participated in a VDC-led Client Constraints Challenge that highlighted collaboration, adaptability, and problem-solving and received a guided tour of both facilities. Thank you to everyone involved for making the day so fun, interactive, and engaging; students felt recognized and special, and we look forward to continuing to grow this collaboration and partnership with Mesa Public Schools and other top-tier districts in the future.

NATIONAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING (NBDM) MEETING 2026

McCarthy’s NBDM meeting brought partners from across the company together in Phoenix, celebrating the success of $12.2 billion in sales in 2025 and the collective effort it took to reach this milestone. The theme of this year’s conference, Every Piece Has Purpose, highlighted how each partner contributes to the bigger picture, inspired by the an Arizona classic; the mosaic. Over two days, partners connected, shared best practices, and explored the UNIFY imperative and its impact on daily work. Discussions focused on the pursuit process and ways to drive better alignment across the company. Highlights included a president’s panel with regional leadership and a client panel with external partners, offering valuable insights and perspectives. Outside of the conference sessions, partners enjoyed time in downtown Phoenix and at an offsite dinner at 810 Entertainment, strengthening relationships and building connections in a relaxed setting. A special shoutout goes to Senior Marketing Manager Abby Godfrey, who spearheaded the planning and coordination of this event.

IN THE NEWS SOUTHWEST

Building the Next Generation Industry Workforce

According to a study done by Mesa Community College, Arizona construction projects will yield more than 200,000 job openings in 2026, with only around 80,000 applicants to fill them. Now, more than ever, McCarthy has an opportunity to build up the next generation of employees and craft professionals to help support quality projects in the future. Senior Vice President of Operations Eric Fields shares the many ways McCarthy partners are inspiring the future of builders.

Arizona’s School Districts Increasing Focus on Career Readiness

As Arizona continues to identify industries and employment opportunities for students after high school, districts are continuing to design more spaces that mirror workplace settings. Through new builds, campus renovations, and rebuilds, schools such as WestMEC and Agua Fria Hilltop School for the Arts are helping students leave high school with more than a diploma; they leave with readyto-go skills and directly translatable experience.

Hilltop School for the Arts and Theater Celebrates Structural Topping Out

Agua Fria High School District’s new arts-focused high school recently celebrated its structural topping out with a beam signing. With the school’s future teachers and administrators in attendance, this event celebrated how integral community support was in bringing this project to life. As the beam was lifted into place, Superintendent Craig Olson shared the meaning behind the milestone and the Christmas Tree tradition.

VDC as a Key Tool for Water / Wastewater Construction

Senior VDC Manager Elias Ponce shared the success McCarthy had in using VDC on the City of Henderson’s Kurt R. Segler Water Reclamation Facility Expansion. Elias’ team used a combination of layered mapping, drone flights, and laser scanning to accurately map the as-built conditions of the plant. This then allowed the team to plan tie-ins and shutdowns with greater certainty than if they had relied on outdated drawings and as-builts.
