2026 Southwest Region Safety Update
Safety is our first measure of success. The table to the right highlights our Southwest safety performance to date this year, capturing OSHA recordables, lost-time incidents, and total hours worked across our jobsites. Statistics are inclusive of Arizona, Education, National Renewable Energy, National Water, and National Mission Critical Business Units.
Behind every number is a real partner going home safe because of pre-task planning, MVP observations, and speaking up when something doesn’t look right. NEW EMAIL DISTRIBUTION LISTS ARE NOW LIVE!
The new email distribution lists for the Southwest Region and National Markets are now live! Previously, our distribution groups weren't consistently maintained or named, causing partners to miss important information. The updated structure aligns with how we cascade messages to our teams — making communication quicker and clearer.
To add or remove a contact from a list, simply submit a request through our online form — no need to contact IT for routine updates. Details on the new list naming conventions can be found on the Sharepoint page.
A NEW 'ONE COMPANY' OFFICE
To build on the announcement at Southwest Town Hall in April, we have officially signed a lease on our new office in Camelback Corridor. Our Southwest team will be relocating to 3133 E. Camelback Road, just off 32nd Street, doubling our footprint to nearly 100,000 square feet. This new space will provide us the room to grow, collaborate, and better serve our partners, clients, and national businesses. The new location was also selected with our employee partners in mind, remaining centralized with walkable amenities nearby.
This move is one part of a bigger investment in our people and our region. In partnership with SmithGroup, the building will undergo a full custom build-out designed with our team in mind, with large gathering spaces, a collaborative environment, and even a Press Coffee with a patio right on-site. We expect to move in late 2027, and we will continue to keep you all informed as new information becomes available.
We kindly request that you do not visit the home of our future office out of respect for the current tenants. This is a 16-month journey and we’re in it together, so please remain patient as we cascade new information as it becomes available. In the meantime, please be good stewards of our current space and continue utilizing the OfficeSpace software, as it will play an important role in managing our new environment.

Since the rollout of Glean, McCarthy’s enterprise AI tool, partners have been discovering unique and resourceful ways to use Glean for everyday tasks. Learn how some of our Southwest Partners are maximizing this tool!
On the Tom Sawyer Solar project, we needed to schedule our MET (Meteorological) station installations throughout the site, but our EPC schedule didn't include these dates. To determine the right installation windows, we needed to cross-reference the P6 schedule against the locations of each MET station on the drawings to determine when module production would be complete in each area in order to install the METs. To manually build out our scheduling and mobilization plan would have required digging through a large amount of schedule data, and mapping out more than 40 site blocks by hand."
Analyze this schedule and MET station block location drawing. I have a subcontractor coming in to do MET station install, but this schedule doesn't currently show install dates. I've learned from my superintendent that MET station install is best after 'module production' is done. For this site we have 7 MET stations that are contracted and need to be installed. According to our current MET stations, the locations are to be on: block 3, block 8, block 18, block 27, block 29, block 37, and block 40. Find those blocks on the schedule or explain to me your logic.

TORRANCE GROUNDWATER DESALTER EXPANSION GROUNDBREAKING
We are proud to celebrate a major milestone for Southern California's water future. Alongside the Water Replenishment District (WRD) of Southern California, the City of Torrance, and partners at Jacobs, we recently broke ground on a significant expansion to the Torrance Groundwater Desalter, a key project within WRD's Brackish Groundwater Reclamation Program. Once complete, the facility will use reverse osmosis technology to produce up to an additional 7,100 acre-feet of drinking water per year, while increasing groundwater storage capacity, addressing the region's brackish groundwater plume, and strengthening drought resilience for communities across Southern California.
Projects like this are a reminder of why the work we do matters. We aren't just building structures, we are helping build a more reliable and sustainable future for the people and communities who depend on it.
KANSAS RIVER RIBBON CUTTING
McCarthy celebrated the ribbon cutting of a project that answered a challenging question: how do you upgrade a 24/7 wastewater facility without ever taking it offline? The completion of several key improvements at the Kansas River Wastewater Treatment Plant for the City of Lawrence, delivered in collaboration with Black & Veatch, is a testament to the planning, coordination, and expertise it takes to modernize critical infrastructure while keeping it fully operational.
This project holds a special distinction as the City of Lawrence's first ever CMAR-delivered wastewater project. Treating roughly 8 million gallons of wastewater daily, the upgraded facility replaces aging infrastructure, improves system reliability, and positions the City to meet both current and future KDHE water quality requirements. A great milestone for the team and the community they helped serve.

LEARNING & MANAGEMENT 101
Management 101 brought the energy across all three days in the Phoenix office. Vania Pacheco kicked things off by leading a portion of the "Managing Self" section — setting the tone for the kind of self-awareness and intentionality that powerful leadership demands. Participants carried that momentum right into a group activity, exploring what it truly means to show up as your best self for your team.
Day 2 kept the energy going as Ashley Cracraft and Keith Hilker returned to lead an engaging session on "Managing Teams." They didn't just talk about collaboration — they put it into action. Participants jumped into a group activity that challenged them to lean on one another, think collectively, and experience firsthand what it looks and feels like when a team truly works together.
To close things out, Kelly Keegan took the floor with a session on "Managing from the Inside Out" — a great reminder that strong leadership always starts with knowing yourself first.

The SW and Water Acceleration & Mentorship Programs celebrated the completion of their 2025-2026 participants this month. Across both events, mentees presented on their development journeys and the ways the program shaped how they lead, listen, build trust, coach others, and strengthen relationships. The Phoenix Office celebrated Pride Month with an afternoon full of meaning and community. Chloe Stadler led a Pride history lesson before partners got creative with bracelet making and a design-your-own Pride flag activity. The team also enjoyed a catered spread from Dahlia, a local LGBTQ-owned restaurant, a fabulous way to close out a day centered on learning, allyship, and showing up for one another.

ASU AND U of A PROJECT TEAMS UNIFY FOR INTERN SCHEDULING TRAINING
Cole Daker, Project Scheduler, brought together interns from both the U of A Medical Innovations Building and ASU Health projects for a hands-on scheduling training session. Interns walked away knowing how to read a P6 schedule, understand scheduling logic, and support the schedule update process — all skills they'll carry forward as future project engineers. The self-perform concrete team came together for a D'Backs game at Chase Field, taking in the action from the Randy Johnson Suite 51. Across the Southwest, McCarthy project teams marked the 250th anniversary of our nation's independence with some truly memorable moments on the jobsite. The T3N2 project team raised the flag over their site in honor of the milestone, while over in Downtown Phoenix, you could see the McCarthy tower crane against the city skyline over at University of Arizona Medical Innovations Building. We strive to be the best builder in America, and moments like these are a reminder of the pride our teams bring to the work every single day. Happy 250th, America!

McCarthy was proud to be part of the City of Phoenix delegation at the BIO International Convention 2026 in San Diego. Business Development Director Charlie Crews joined the City of Phoenix for a packed two days of conversations with industry leaders from around the world, showcasing why the Phoenix region is one of the nation's fastest-growing bioscience hubs and a city of opportunity for companies looking to build within the community.

Our team attended this year's American Clean Power Conference, and the conversations did not disappoint.15 of our partners represented McCarthy across two days of meaningful client touch points and industry discussions, with a few clear themes rising to the top: material and supply uncertainty remains a real factor in today's market, early and consistent engagement is critical to advancing projects and permitting, and the strongest preconstruction teams are the ones proactively managing change before it manages them.

700 industry professionals gathered in San Diego for the 2026 Groundbreaking Women in Construction Conference, including 50 McCarthy partners. Now in our 12th year of sending partners to GWIC, McCarthy remains deeply committed to investing in spaces that celebrate, connect, and uplift women in construction.
As demand for construction grows, so does the responsibility to create more pathways for people from all backgrounds to enter, grow, and lead in the industry, and women are at the forefront of that charge. Throughout the session, the team fielded a number of questions related to formwork design, plywood finishes and patterns, and form pressure, just to name a few. Their efforts helped strengthen McCarthy's partnership with a firm that often leads the design team on our projects. Great work, Grant and Marcus!

Congratulations to partners Solomone Lolohea and Tevita "David" Pupua, who have officially kicked off their Concrete Finisher Apprenticeship courses through our partnership with the Concrete Contractors Association of Arizona. GIRLS CONSTRUCTION CAMP
When the Let's Build Construction Camp for Girls invited McCarthy to the table, our partners showed up. This week-long camp gives middle and high school girls hands-on exposure to construction trades, architecture, and engineering, and our team donated materials and came with the right people to get the work done. Partners Chris Hargrove, John McCartan, Roman Ybarra, Diego Vasquez, Courtney Kersey, Sydney Adams, and Stephanie Knox worked side by side with campers throughout the week. Events like these are a powerful reminder that the most effective recruiting tool we have are the partners who show up, lead by example, and empowers the next generation of builders.

Through a multi-year, multi-million-dollar partnership, McCarthy has invested significantly in development of an AI operating system that integrates throughout all phases of a project. Pulse, an AI system created through Palantir, aims to support field operations partners through scenario planning, risk analysis, and decision making. Taking this even further, Palantir’s systems will help integrate AI throughout company workflows to ensure consistency.
WRD Breaks Ground on Expansion to Torrance Groundwater Desalter for Brackish Program
As part of the Water Replenishment District of Southern California’s larger Brackish Groundwater Reclamation Program, McCarthyJacobs has begun construction on an expansion at the Torrance Groundwater Desalter facility, which will treat water from the underground plume trapped beneath the city in the early 1900s. Supplying water to more than 100,000 local residents, the expanded facility will double its local drinking water production.
Lawrence Completes Modernization of Kansas River Wastewater Treatment Plant
McCarthy and Black & Veatch recently completed the $74.3 million modernization of the Kansas River Wastewater Treatment Plant. Extensive improvements across the 8 MGD plant replaced aging infrastructure and upgraded treatment processes to comply with advancing regulatory requirements. Through added biological nutrient removal (BNR) and a new ultraviolet treatment system, the City of Lawrence can continue to treat water at high quality.
McCarthy Leases New Phoenix Office as Regional Headquarters
McCarthy recently finalized a lease for its new Phoenix Office location, just off of 32nd Street and Camelback Road, with nearly 100,000 square feet of office space to support the growing region. Expected to welcome employees in late 2027, the new office will continue to position McCarthy in the heart of the Valley’s business community. In parallel with the new Tempe Anchor Center, this office will invest in employee development and engagement.

We want to take a moment to recognize the outstanding work happening across our mechanical projects — from the field to the coordination table.
Boswell Pipefitter Team — A major shout-out for completing a $4 million chilled water piping system upgrade under budget, with zero safety incidents. Strong planning, disciplined execution, and true teamwork made it happen. Well done!
Metro Tech Crew — Aydan Cavazos, Jack Saettele, Alec Enoch, and Scott Wolfe tackled a new type of piping head-on, showing up every day through the heat and the unknowns with safety front and center. That's the standard.
Angel Sandoval Jimenez — A special recognition for his communication and collaboration with the VDC group during coordination at the Medical Innovations Building. His involvement has been key to delivering the best possible product, and it hasn't gone unnoticed.
Jordon Simmons & the T3N2 Team — Their pressure test plan for the Chilled Water and Condenser Water Piping was called the best Quality Leadership had ever seen — high praise, well earned. It's now being shared as a model for others, and speaks volumes about the bar they've set.
Prefrabrication Shop Team — You've built something truly special this year. The way this group supports one another and operates like a family is something to be proud of. Thank you all!

Banner Casa Grande — Eduardo Carrera Morales and Zac Ardavanis led a highly complex 15,000 CFM air handling unit replacement over just five days without impact to the active Emergency Department. The team engineered a creative temporary cooling solution, commissioning wrapped up without a hitch — and the client immediately came back requesting another project. Impressive win!
Banner Heart Hospital — A cooling tower replacement completed, commissioned, and running flawlessly. Clean install, quick turnaround, zero hiccups. Big shout-out to Steven Wolfe for planning and bringing this one home!
Banner Boswell Central Plant — One of the most complex piping projects the SPM team has tackled, this was a true full-team effort spanning Precon, VDC, subs, and field craft. The facility is already seeing major energy savings, and this project has set McCarthy apart in the Banner space, driving future work. Huge shout-out to Ryan Kirk and Steven Wolfe for making it happen!
Heat Exchanger Project — When a defective design and extremely tight space threatened the project, Ryan Kirk and Shawn Corey brought in the right experts, developed a viable solution, and got it across the finish line. Best of all — this was McCarthy's first project on campus, and it's since led to six additional awards in the last year. What a way to make a first impression!.

Changes to Single Sign-On (SSO)
Starting Aug. 1, the Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi- Factor Authentication (MFA) tool we use to access work applications will be changing from Okta to Microsoft Entra. All partners need to complete a one-time enrollment for Microsoft Entra by July 31. Visit the Microsoft Entra Resource page for instructions to complete the MFA enrollment and additional resources.
