RENEWABLE ENERGY

“ ” LEADERSHIP INSIGHTS

I am proud of what this team has accomplished and grateful for the consistency, professionalism, and ownership that continue to define our business.

Renewable Energy Team,

Over the first half of the year, our Renewable Energy business has continued to execute at a very high level, and that performance is a direct reflection of this team. We have built a strong track record on safety and overall project performance, and those results do not happen by accident. They come from disciplined planning, strong and aligned leadership, thoughtful decision-making, and a shared commitment to doing the work the right way every day. I am proud of what this team has accomplished and grateful for the consistency, professionalism, and ownership that continue to define our business.

As we look ahead, our focus remains clear. We will continue to be successful through collaboration, operational excellence, and strong execution on all fronts for our clients and partners, and the foundation we have built together positions us well for the rest of the year. Midyear is also a good time for each of us to own our development by checking in with your manager on performance and development plans, reflecting on where we want to grow, and being intentional about the skills and experiences that will help us continue progressing. What gives me the most confidence is not just the work we have completed, but the way we work together across teams, functions, and projects to innovate, solve problems, support one another, develop ourselves, and keep moving the business forward.

This quarter also brings important leadership updates for our organization. I am honored to step into the role of President for Renewable Energy, and I am excited to welcome Matt Lyons into the COO role. At the same time, we are grateful for Dhruv Patel’s leadership and many contributions to this business, and we wish him all the best as he steps into his new role as President and COO of MHI. Transitions such as these are important moments, and I want to thank all of you for your support, trust, and continued commitment to our team and to our strategic map. I am energized by what is ahead and confident that, together, we will continue building on the momentum we have created.

Nayan Bhakta,

Many of our renewable projects are positioned in ways that increase exposure to events that can impact both people and property. From high-speed public roads leading into project entrances to narrow access roads and public roadways that run between work areas, our environments require us to think beyond the immediate task in front of us.

That is why our traffic control plans must do more than address movement inside the work zone. They must also consider the connected areas around our operations where project activity, public traffic, and changing site conditions intersect. Strong planning in these spaces is an important part of safe project execution, and it requires us to assign the right craft to guide and direct operations while also making sure they have the right tools to do the job effectively.

Traffic control also depends on clear communication, consistent expectations, and regular review as site conditions change. As work areas shift, deliveries increase, or public access points become more active, our plans must be adjusted with the same level of intention as the work itself. When everyone understands the traffic flow, assigned responsibilities, and controls in place, we reduce confusion, improve coordination, and better protect both our teams and the public.

As we continue focusing on planning, awareness, and execution in the field, the 2026 RE MVP Challenge gives us another way to put those values into action. The challenge gives our teams a practical way to stay engaged in the moments that matter most by paying closer attention to the work, strengthening engagement in the field, and recognizing the everyday actions that help keep our jobsites safe.

This challenge is not just about points or bragging rights (although you’ll get those too), it is about building stronger habits around observation, engagement, and intervention so we can better protect our teams and continue strengthening our safety culture every day.

As this challenge rolls out, I encourage each of us to lean in, participate fully, and see MVPs for what they are: one more way we turn awareness into action and make safer choices part of how we work every day.

Thank you for your leadership and continued focus on safety every day.

Stay safe,

As we continue focusing on planning, awareness, and execution in the field, the 2026 RE MVP Challenge gives us another way to put those values into action.

COMMUNITY & GREATNESS

TRENDING TOPICS

McCarthy continues to build strong community partnerships across Texas through meaningful, lasting impact. At Cedar Range, we partnered with Zelestra to support the Miller Grove Volunteer Fire Department, serving both the project and the surrounding community. This donation builds on a relationship first established with Hopkins Fire District during Bright Arrow, making it especially meaningful to continue that connection while supporting the first responders who protect the communities where we work.

That same spirit of partnership was on display at Jones City. The Jones City team, together with LSBP, Bedrock, United Rentals, and CWS, helped turn a shared vision into reality through a bicycle donation in Hamlin, Texas. Together, they provided 265 bicycles to students in kindergarten through eighth grade, creating an exciting moment for local students and families while demonstrating the impact of collaboration.

Together, these efforts reflect the strength of McCarthy’s community engagement across Texas. Our teams are building trust, strengthening relationships, and creating positive outcomes that extend beyond the project footprint.

SPOTLIGHT ON EXCELLENCE

OUTWARD PERFORMANCE

The first post-pilot cohort of Outward Performance successfully completed a transformative journey focused on awareness, accountability, impact, and influence through content developed by the Arbinger Institute. Peer facilitators David Ridenour, Francisco Esquibel, Eugene Chung, Fernanda Torres Maqueda, and Kimberly Dycus guided participants through thought-provoking videos, introspective activities, and meaningful discussions designed to encourage self-reflection and personal growth. Participant feedback highlighted the program's value, with one attendee describing it as "a great course perfect for building our future leaders." Building on the success of this cohort, the next Outward Performance program is scheduled to begin in November 2026.

FROM VISION TO SUCCESS PROJECT MILESTONES

Building the Zelestra Playbook: Three Projects, One Standard, More to Come

The Echols Grove, Cedar Range, and Skull Creek teams brought together SPE Project Managers, General Foremen, Superintendents, Project Engineers, and Interns to align expectations and establish consistent production goals across all labor codes.

On Day 1, the teams completed a full review of labor production targets and set aggressive but achievable goals.

On Day 2, they aligned work plans for all major scopes and standardized tool lists by scope, creating a repeatable template that can be carried forward to future projects.

Strong collaboration across every level of the team will help drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across all three projects with many more to come in our Zelestra portfolio.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

RE AMP 2025/2026 Closeout Event

The RE Acceleration and Mentor Program celebrated the close of its fourth and largest cohort to date, marking an outstanding year of growth, learning, and professional development.

With an exceptional turnout of both mentees and mentors, the celebration featured engaging activities, program recap presentations, and the presentation of completion certificates.

Throughout the event, one theme was consistently echoed by participants: the outstanding mentor-mentee pairings, which played a key role in helping participants achieve their individual development goals and strengthen their skills.

The 2026/2027 RE AMP Program will kick off on September 15th at the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix, Arizona.

VEM TEAM UPDATE

Keeping Renewable Projects Moving

The Vegetation Equipment Management (VEM) team continues to support Renewable Energy project teams throughout Q3 by coordinating vegetation equipment planning, monthly project check-ins, and field-specific support to keep seeding, mowing, and touch-up work moving across active jobs. During the quarter, VEM remained engaged on projects including Cedar Range, Hercules, Jones City, Moonshine, and Waterloo, helping teams align upcoming equipment needs, improve utilization, and stay ahead of schedule, site, and maintenance challenges. The team’s focus remains practical and project-driven: providing one point of coordination, improving visibility into equipment demand, and partnering with Operations, SWPPP, and 02S to reduce friction and support better execution in the field.

“Reducing Friction in the Field”

TEMPORARY POWER DISTRIBUTION

SKIDS: A BETTER WAY TO SUPPORT RE SITES

As our Renewable Energy work continues to grow, so does the need for faster, safer, and more repeatable temporary power solutions in the field. One of the latest improvements coming out of our prefab effort is the temporary power distribution skid.

These skids are designed to replace the old method of stick building temporary power setups on site. Instead of starting from scratch every time, the project team can receive a readyto-deploy skid that has already been planned, fabricated, assembled, and checked before it ever reaches the jobsite.

The benefit is simple: less field labor, better consistency, faster deployment, cleaner installation, and retained revenue.

By building these distribution skids ahead of time, we can reduce the amount of layout, material handling, field assembly, and rework that typically happens when temporary power is built piece by piece in the field. The skid approach also gives our teams a more standardized product, which helps improve quality and makes it easier to plan around known dimensions, equipment, and installation needs.

Having these skids on hand and ready to deploy also gives our projects more flexibility. When a site is ready, the skid can be shipped, placed, and tied in much faster than a traditional fieldbuilt setup. This helps support early site power needs, reduces schedule pressure, and allows our craft teams to focus on higher-value work.

There is also a big safety and logistics advantage. A single skid-mounted assembly is easier to move, stage, and manage than loose equipment and materials spread across the site. The finished product is cleaner, more durable, and better suited for the demanding conditions of RE work.

This approach also opens the door for other skid-mounted equipment solutions across our various business units and projects. Once we have a proven skid platform, the same idea can be applied to other repeatable assemblies where speed, mobility, standardization, and durability are important.

This effort is a great example of what happens when teams come together early and look for a better way to build. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen, including the Steel Prefab team, Logistics, Electrical Prefab, and the project teams. Each group played an important role in turning the idea into a field-ready solution.

The temporary power distribution skid is more than just a prefab product. It is a step toward a more scalable, repeatable, and efficient way to support our Renewable Energy projects.
