Choose from over 4,000 tartans to find the one that reflects your heritage, personal style, or simply the one you love!
We’ll tailor an 8-yard kilt to your exact measurements, creating a bespoke garment made just for you.
Kilts are available in a choice of machine made or handmade, with cloth available from all our suppliers, allowing you to get the exact kilt you want, for your budget.
To complete your outfit, we include everything you need in your hire; jacket, waistcoat, neckwear, sporran, sgian dubh, as well as brogues.
And, if you fall in love with it, you’ll have the option to purchase your kilt after the hire.

Kilt Stitching Options
Unsure which option to choose?
Here is a quick guide to the three kilt making styles available at McCalls.
Each offering its own balance of structure, movement & adjustability.
Handmade Kilts
Hand stitched by skilled kiltmakers, with each pleat sewn individually by hand.
This traditional method creates a natural flow in the pleats and allows greater shaping from waist to hip. Handmade kilts also allow easier adjustments in the future.
Machine Made Kilts
Fully machine stitched for consistent and uniform pleating.
Machine made kilts are firmer in structure and sit closer to the hips. Future alterations are limited to strap adjustments.
Hybrid Kilts
A combination of machine and hand stitching.
Pleats are machine sewn from behind for a clean finish, while the rest is hand finished. This balances structure with the flexibility of a handmade kilt. Adjustments can be made through front fringing and under apron.

Indentify your clan using our Tartan Explorer, from Abercronbie to Yule. Use it to find our extensive range of tartans on offer here at McCalls as well as non clan tartans too.
Kilt Measurements
Waist (1) ______ inches. A firm meaurement taken just under the rib cageat the natural waist, just above the navel.
Hip (2) ______ inches. Taken round the fullest part of the seat.
Length (3) ______ inches. Taken from the natural waist (1) to the middle of the kneecap.
It is important that this is be taken standing straight, with feet together.
Jacket Measurements
Chest (4) ______ inches. Measurement should be taken around the fullest part of the chest at under arm height.
Sleeve Length (5) ______ inches. Measurement should be taken from the edge of the shoulder to the bottom of cuff (finished length).
