CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP 7 (seecoursedescription)
ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS 7 isaquarter-longcourseinwhichnewly-enrolled7thgraderswilllearnvarioushelpful, funwaystoimprovetheirstudyandorganizationalhabits.Thesestrategiesandtipswillincludefocusareassuchas organization,timemanagement,note-taking,homeworkcompletion,projects/long-termassignmentcompletion, preparationforformalassessments(quizzesandtests),andtest-takingstrategies.Atthestartofthecourse,studentswill selectoneareawheretheywouldliketoimprovetheirstudyhabitsandthencreateaplantotackleandimprovethatarea. Midwaythroughthequarterandagainattheendofthequarter,theywillassesshowwelltheyachievedthatgoal.Students willnotbeassignedgradedhomeworkforeveryclass.Theymightbeasked,however,togohome,checkouttheirstudy spaces,discussstudyingandproductivitywiththeirparents,orparticipateinotheractivitiesforthenextclass.

MAKERSPACE: CreativeProblemSolving.Studentsinthiscoursewillworkthroughdesignchallengesandsolve problemsbyprototypingandmakinginanynumberofmaterials.Theywillbeencouragedtoaskrepeatedly,“Whatelse couldthisbe?”and“Whatelsecouldthisdo?”Alongtheway,theywillexpandtheirimaginations,sharpentheir observationskills,andlearntocritiquewithpositivityandfocus.
ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCTION Thiscourse,usingtheresourcesoftheCenterforInnovationandDesign (CID),explorestheprocessofmodernmusicproduction StudentswillreceivetraininginApple’sLogicProDigitalAudio Workstationastheylearnhowtocraftbeatsandbasslinesaspartoforiginalcompositionprojects Eachstudentwilluse theirownindividualworkstationsinCID2whichincludepianokeyboardsandMIDIpadcontrollers Studentswillalso learnhowtomulti-recordvocaltracksusingtheAudioStudioinCID3 Completedsongswillthenbeuploadedand sharedwiththeMBScommunity
