The Driftwork

Fall 2025

Chelsea, New York

Within the art world exists the principle of “push & pull”, which encompasses the rhythmic balance of two or more contrasting forces akin to this live-work design, which demonstrates the continual balance of rest & work within the life of an artist.

This program balances the artists' studio space alongside the residents. The push and pull between work and rest is in a continual state of flux throughout the building and the surrounding area. In this busy city, the lobby and cafe welcome our residents. Communal lounge space accompanied by studio space creates a positive sense of community.

We sought to design a structure that is flexible in all aspects of its assembly and program, We created a custom joinery using scrap FrameCAD steel studs to frame the skeleton of the wedges. The intention of the space is to adapt to the terrain through the use of wedges that move independently that are later secured together.

The form allows for recreational use of all types because of the independent wedges. All of our materials allowed for the ability to dismantle our design and the opportunity to one day be recycled. This project was an amazing experience with my school and I was grateful to travel with this project as well as my classmates to San Louis Obispo.

Deep Blue Aquarium

Spring 2023

This design is a marine life aquarium where locals and tourists alike can visit to experieznce an underwater aquarium as well as see the ocean animals that are native to the area. Guests can leave donations for the endangered species as well as leave with a better understanding of marine animals and how to help the earth in everyday activities. A part of the proceeds will be given in support of all the native marine life regardless of the amount of donations.

The area for this design was specifically chosen so the native plants and marine life would be least e ected. In this project we were given creative freedom which I was very happy to let my imagination run

Reaching to all people located on PCH in Huntington Beach, CA, a holistic bridge allowing for both public and private space was created to ensure a well rounded experience for anyone visiting this motel. The layout allows ocean views without completely obstructing the nearby residents.

This program has accommodations for tourists, residents, and even van-lifers who will find several amenities to add to their living spaces, allowing for an engaging stay.

Our “bean” cafe o ers an entryway into the motel as well as a place for all walks of life to come together as a community.

Moonfish Gallery

Costa Mesa, California

The site allows for more open space and flow. Based on the jellyfish which represents flow. Jellyfish don’t force anything, the waterake them exactly where they need to be. This site allows for flow of people and has visitors or nearby residents circulating throughout the design.

The open spaces allows for community engagement throughout the site and provides open space lacking in the surrounding area. The gallery is not only a bridge but a gathering space as well.

In this class grasshopper was properly introduced to me and I learned the best way to learn was to jump right into testing out codes. We started with learning patterns and how certain codes resulted in di erent outcomes. I was shown that even with a slight change the entire model can become ultimately di erent and unique in shape. My design is shaped to mold a beautiful facade of a skyscraper with a modern futuristic focus.
