“Forgotten America” is an illustrated “Cook’s Tour”* of forgotten American History Told state by state, Alabama to Wyoming (plus DC) from its beginnings to the cusp of Modernity — ca1910. On this armchair tour you will cross paths with villains & heroes, cowards & saviors, once-upon-a-time celebrities, strange events, politics-as-usual, poets & thieves, ghost towns, harrowing escapes, & the forgotten photographers & their forgotten subjects who inspired this work which is illustrated with their portraits from the author’s personal collection of 19th-century American photographic portraits — cabinet cards & cartes de visite from each of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia — as well as relevant ephemera. This tour will offer a tantalizing and informative glimpse into forgotten American history, and although it does not include room and board it hopefully does offer plenty of “Food for Thought”
