Hotel Municipal

This project entailed a boutique hotel that addresses the Cleveland Browns move from Cleveland’s waterfront to Brook Park by developing a concept that connects the two locations and reinterprets Cleveland’s rich history. The project takes its name and logo from the historic Cleveland Municipal Stadium, using its iconic “C” form as a primary design driver throughout the building.

The hotel blends an eclectic, working-class character with elevated hospitality. A warm palette of Browns-inspired colors and wood finishes keep the interiors feeling professional, while pops of color and quirky culture references introduce moments of play.

Hello//Goodbye

The Kent Train Depot is reimagined as a future hub of transportation, blending history with modern innovation. Rather than restoring the station to its original state, the design envisions a dynamic space showcasing miniature train cars from different eras, celebrating the rich history of rail travel. These detailed models bring the evolution of trains to life, offering visitors a nostalgic glimpse into the past. As the station begins servicing modern rail travelers, the design creates a unique intersection of history and progress, preserving the charm of yesteryear while integrating contemporary transit conveniences.

Carry-On

This project features a carry-on designed to prioritize comfort, focusing on both functionality and user experience. The design process involved researching ergonomic features, exploring materials that enhance convenience and ease of use, and incorporating elements that provide support and relaxation during travel.

THE UTILI-TEA BELT THE UTILI-TEA BELT

Traveling can be scary.

Having something familiar can ease the anxiety one faces when entering the unknown nature of the void between comfortable places.

But how can you take the comfort of home along with you? Sometimes a certain object or experience can ease the discomfort of commuting. For instance, a beverage allows one to temporary pause an interaction by taking a sip. In addition to the comfort of a warm beverage, sometimes the process of creating the beverage is in itself a comfort - a ritual, if you will.

The Utili-Tea Belt offers the beauty of this ritual in a hands-free way unseen before, allowing wearers to simulate the comforts of home alone or with a friend.

The Belt was initially envisioned as a tea box which would unfold allowing the user to have ready made tea at the flip of a snap. However, the design was considered unwieldy and was converted into a wearable.

The first concept was to be harness made of polypropylene straps and plastic buckles. This design was to be hidden under a jacket, similar to a gun holster. Later emphasis was put on the harness as being something to behold and the design morphed into a belt.

Snaps and straps allow for easy storage and use.
