Red Light, Green Light Reckless on road

A Senior High School faculty of Liceo De Cagayan University Ms. Cathlyn Floremae Raluto was hit by an unknown car while crossing the national highway in Barangay Taboc, 12:25 am. The suspect fled the scene immediately, while Raluto was declared dead on arrival. Along with this case, another careless driver has put an end to life for another victim. A 17-year-old teen’s speeding SUV struck another SUV on its side, forcing it to overturn many times, instantly killing a 67-year-old Emilyn Pagaling. The six passengers in the SUV experienced minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. The 17-year-old teen has a non-professional driver’s license, according to the police, but he claimed he was unfamiliar with the road and failed to spot the intersection up ahead. “She was on the nearest side of the backseat, side of the door which is the point of impact, that’s where the collision happened, so her head was hit” he stated. Whereas, this case involving a teenage driver without a driver’s license is troubling, another teenage driver recklessly caused a collision between a truck and a pickup on November 4, Zone 7, Taytay, El Salvador City on Monday morning. The truck driver, known as Ernie Apor, was driving towards Iligan City, while the pickup driver, an unnamed student from Iligan, was en route to Cagayan de Oro City. The pickup driver crashed
and veered into the truck’s lane, resulting in a fatal accident. The incident led to the deaths of the pickup driver and three passengers, while Apor, the truck driver, experienced minor injuries around his eye. The three passengers were taken to the hospital, but two were pronounced dead on arrival. “We were going to the airport and then we followed the truck trailer, I tried to overtake, I was driving after the traffic light, he made a sudden turn, he avoided the pick up”, he stated, Rigor Madua a witness to the said accident. As the Republic Act 4136 Section 48, Land and Transportation Code “No person shall operate a motor vehicle on any highway recklessly or without reasonable caution considering the width, traffic, grades, crossing, curvatures, visibility and other conditions of the highway and the conditions of the atmosphere and weather, or so as to endanger the property or the safety or rights of any person or so as to cause excessive or unreasonable damage to the highway.”
