FALL PROTECTION
COMPETENT PERSON TRAINING
Protecting workers at-height is a challenging task and is dependent on particular job site situations and individual worker duties. There are many fall protection solutions available to workers, each having its own specific requirements. Understanding each option and proper implementation requires oversight by an experienced individual with a higher-level of knowledge and safety training.
This two-day course focuses on the various components of a worksite fall protection program and will also help develop the skills required of a Competent Person. Participants will learn course content through a combination of direct classroom instruction and multiple workshops. The course material will provide an engaging and enjoyable learning environment.
This course is designed for participants who may be involved with a managed fall protection program including the employer, supervisor, safety personnel, workers, and rescuers. This course meets and exceeds the competent person requirement per the ANSI Z359 Standard.

INSTRUCTORS
LUKE LONGMAN

Luke began his career in law enforcement in 2000, and, while in that role conducted training for over ten years in numerous assignments as a member of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Denver, Colorado. These years of service helped him to learn and value the importance of leadership and accountability for safe operations, as well as the importance of quality and detail in professional training. He began his second career 4 years ago in the insurance arena, risk management arena specifically in worker’s compensation and risk management. In 2021, he began work in the State of Iowa for a large agricultural cooperative, which included roles in training, safety, and compliance. He conducted inspections in a multitude of hazardous environments, as well as conducted safety training for all employees. While in this role, he assisted with developing safety committees, as well as several other programs prioritizing behavioral-based safety. Over time he assisted with transforming company culture in the direction of becoming safety oriented. In the future, Luke continues his professional growth with additional certifications in order to fulfill emerging instructional opportunities and to continue to build a strong partnership with MBI membership. Luke brings a passion to enhance safety at home, work, and community.
JUSTIN BRIGHTON

Prior to starting his focus on construction safety, Justin had 24 years of experience in meeting food safety standards while achieving nationally recognized certifications. During this time Justin earned a fundamental appreciation for the importance of safety. He brings a safety culture and behavior-based perspective to CSSI with a passion for continued growth and learning as demonstrated by his pursuit to graduate from CSSI’s Building a Safety Champion program and completion of Holmes Murphy’s Risk and Management series. As a Safety Director for an underground utilities company, Justin attained competent person status for excavation and confined spaces. As a Safety Consultant, Justin will bring a “Everyone home! Every Day!” perspective to each and every inspection he conducts and training course he delivers.
