Through the SAILL Internship Program, students step out of the classroom and into the real world—gaining hands-on experience in fields like neuroscience, law, the arts, conservation, public policy, and more. Along the way, they discover what inspires them, refine their goals, and develop the skills and confidence to lead beyond Marymount.
We built SAILL around a simple belief: Experience deepens learning.
At Marymount, leadership is cultivated in classrooms, on stages, on courts and the field, and in community. Through SAILL, that formation extends into professional spaces—where curiosity is sharpened, confidence grows, and possibility becomes tangible.
Noun [men· tor· ship]
def.
ex. A relationship that invites growth through guidance, example, and trust.
A physician pausing to ask a student what she noticed — and why it matters.
Learning begins long before summer. Through an intentional matching process, students are paired with mentors and placements aligned with their interests. Throughout this immersive process, they engage in meaningful, real-world work across Los Angeles.
What began with two interns now includes more than 80 students annually. SAILL does not replace the leadership cultivated at Marymount — it expands it. Students observe, participate, question, and reflect, deepening both technical knowledge and selfunderstanding. Guided by accomplished professionals, they gain insight not only into careers, but into who they are becoming.

“Athos was my turning point from curiously observing to actively engaging in handson experience. I learned from—and then practiced my skills alongside—a very seasoned group of mentors, many of whom had astonishing accomplishments in the field of biotech...
I concluded the internship with developed lab skills, a supportive network of professionals, and a wholly changed perspective on the world of biotech and drug development.
AVERY F. ’26 | Athos Therapeutics

“The biggest lesson I learned is about communication; it truly is the center of marketing. I will use the experience and lessons I have learned to help me market myself for the future. This internship has shown me that experiencing everything is the best way to learn how to do something.
