At Champaign Central High School, every student has his or her own story, perspective, or angle. With a population as diverse as Central's, there are many different voices to be heard. Students see things differently than teachers, and teachers see things differently than administration. Every story is unique and special.

Students are shaped by the classes they take and the friends they make in high school. Freshmen come into high school with a fresh, new perspective. Their mind starts off as a clean slate,butastheywalkthroughthedoorsthemorningoftheir very first day, their mind evolves and creates new perceptions.

As asophomore, students think that they have been officially welcomed into high school. However, sophomores still have three more years left of learning to be completed. While their mind has expanded over the past year and created new points of view, Champaign Central still has much more to offer as the years go on.

Junior year, the students’ minds really get put to the test. They face challenges in and out of their classrooms, with the responsibilities of being an upperclassman and the introduction to life after high school. They gain new experiences and view points as they take on the ACT and AP classes. But there are still some angles that need to be opened.

Seniors leave with a completed point of view of how it feels to be a Central Maroon. The transformation they have experienced over the past four years has shaped them into individuals ready to take on their own lives and reach for their goalsinthenearfuture.Centralprovideseverythingtheyneed to grow into adults, but also creates memories to last a lifetime! The angles that the seniors have created over the previous years have formed a perfect 360.

Student Life

Central High School offers a variety of fun events and activities that both students and staff can enjoy. These include homecoming spirit week, school dances, sporting events, extracurricular clubs, and more. Every event a student attends, they have an opportunity to make new friends and bond with different people over the activities they love. The student life at Central really brings people closer together and ties friendships tighter than ever before. Every student experiences high school from their own perspective, making each memory one of their own. One of the best qualities Central has is the diversity amongst all the students and staff. The fact that everyone takes on their own angle allows various opinions and outlooks on high school to be shared with one another. Student life consists of so many unique angles that altogether constructs one united school.

rom is an event that students look forward to every year, and Central's Under the Big Top was one to remember! The iHotel was adorned with circus themed decorations and the night flowed seamlessly thanks to the junior class officers. To start off the night, students enjoyed dinner provided by the iHotel. After enjoying their delicious meals, students danced the night away on the dance floor alongside their friends. The night continued with post prom at CRCE. Continuing the festivities, students sang along to karaoke, swam, played a variety of sports, played on inflatables, and munched on more food. Overall, Prom was very successful and left seniors with some of their best memories during their time at Central.

te senior class of 2015 gathered at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on May 26th, to say their final goodbyes to high school. This day has been marked on most seniors’ calendars since the beginning of their high school career. The walk across the stage iS bittersweet as students cherish one of their last high school moments. Parents, relatives and friends celebrate this momentous day alongside the graduates. All the graduates have different plans for their future, but all are eager to start a new chapter in their life.

First Day of School

(): August 19th, freshman students came to Central High School for their first day of school. To start off their day, students went to Combes Gym to pick up their schedules. After, students went to their classes to get to know teachers and students. During first hour, upperclassmen helped the freshman with their lockers. Throughout the rest of the day, students played games in their classes to get to know each other. They played Central Jeopardy, two truths and a lie, and wrote letters to themselves to set goals for their freshman year. In 8th hour, students had aquad day in the west gym. This is where students could sign up for any clubs or activities they were interested in. After the freshman signed up for their clubs, they rotated through group activities to get to know the school. At the end of the day, all students met in Combes Gym. They could participate in games of knockout, a relay race, and an egg toss. Throughout the day, the students were able to get help from volunteer upperclassmen and teachers around the school. On August 20th, all levels had their first day of school. Like the freshman, they go to Combes Gym to pick up their schedules and catch up with their friends. After they pick up their schedules, they go to all of their classes to meet their new teachers.

Pajama Day

C= off the weekend, studentsstartedwitha comfortable spirit week day Monday, as pajama day. Many members of Central High School participated in this day, wearing their comfiest, cutest,orfavoritepajamastoschool. Many students were seen with footie pajamas, fuzzy blankets and fun slippers. Some students even matched with their friends! The pajamas had many themes like animals,superheroes,holidays,and characters. Everyone was able to have a relaxing Monday by dressing up in their favorite pajamas. Pajama day allowed students and faculty to show their school spirit while staying comfy!

he annual event of the Powderpuff Homecoming football game is something many girls look forward to during their junior and senior year. A couple of weekends are devoted to working on improving the girls' football skills with the help of the football team players. The Powderpuff game takes place at McKinley Field, the practice field of the Central Maroon football teams. This year the class of 2016 and the class of 2017 competed for the victory. The junior and senior football players stood on the sidelines and helped coach the girls, providing a hand on how their game plans should be carried out. Running into overtime, the win came down to one play. In the end, the seniors came out on top but with a great effort from both teams.

ales homecoming dance marks the last day of the 2015 spirit week. Many of the students attended the dance held in Combes Gym on September 26th. Students of Central and friends from other high schools showed up in formal attire,

wearing dresses, ties, and bow ties. The theme of the night was Written in the Stars with the gym decorated in Christmas and rope lights, featuring abackdrop for fun photos. The dance began at 7pm with everyone gathered in Seely Hall, who soon made their way into the gymnasium to dance the night away. The evening came to aclose around 10pm when students left the dance. This is anight that the seniors of 2016 will especially never forget.

We Are Family |

Ci High School can be a very scary place, and a majority of the students have to face it alone. But that is not the case for the students with siblings in the building. Driving to school together in the mornings and sharing inside jokes can make high school more enjoyable. Having a part of the family at school to count on is always a plus.

Sports

Every student brings his or her own unique qualities and skills to Central High School's athletic program. All student athletes at Central share a few special characteristics. They are all hardworking and dedicated to their sport. Many student athletes participate in more than one sport and have a different perspective than those who do not. Coaches see things from a different angle than the athletes they train, but they work in harmony to achieve success together. Their differences make the bonds between them stronger. The athletes and coaches use the unique perspectives they have to improve their skills and unify their teams. The athletic program at Central is inspiring From Any Angle.

LEAPING INTO FIRST

| aes Champaign Central Boys' Track team had an overall successful season. They started offby placing 2nd out of 14 teams inthe Twin City Invite, which lead to them taking first at Sectionals for the 2nd consecutive year. They then went offto State with a4x8 relay that consisted of Henry Sills, Ashton Hyatt, John Miller, and Isaac Kasten who placed 7th at State. Individual State entries included Ashton Hyatt in the mile and Fraquan Gaines in thetriplejump. Hyatt placed 4th overall and Gaines placed 3rd. Coach Johnson says he has great aspirations for next season's boys to qualify for State.

he Girls' team had asuccessful season, despite losing alot ofleaders from the year before. This year, they had an excellent work ethic and commitment from the sprinters. The girls were able to place 8th at the Big 12 Invite and 10th atSectionals. Along with those results they had State qualifier Sharon Mainor in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash. Mainor was also an All-State placer with 8th in the 100 meter dash. Along with Mainor, the girls’ track team qualified for state in the 4x100 and the 4x200. The team consisted of Hope Llewellyn, Jessica Wagner, TrinityBrown, and Sharon Mainor. The girlsfinished T-61 to cap off the year. With many members returning, it is predicted that the 2015-2016 track team is sure to have a successful season.

| ‘he Maroons 2014/2015 season was_ one overflowing with success. Returning nine starters team set their sights high. They started their season off with the Cocoa Beach trip during Spring Break. The boys went unbeaten in Florida totaling to a season record/of 6-0. Their return to Champaign brought them their first loss against Mahomet Seymour High Schogh a heartbreaker ended by a walk-off home run for the Bulldogs. This ignited the Maroons as they went on to win their next 10 games. Their next loss game in conference play against a talented Normal West team, the score leveling out to be 11-7. Despite the loss to = Aa fe) Normal West, the team went on to win the outright Big

Before taking the field, head coach John Staab addresses the 12 conference title, with a conference regord of 132. team with some words of wisdom. Their only other loss in the conference came by the hands of Peoria Richwoods High School. ‘The Maroons avenged their early season loss against Mahomet Seymour in the first round of the Regional. The boys put on an offensive display in route to a 10-5 vietory over the Bulldogs. The Maroons advanced to play cfoss-town rival Champaign Centennial in the Regional Championship. The Maroons, who had already beaten the Chargers twice in the regular season, found themselves on the losing end of the game they had won the previous season. Although they did not make the state run that they were aiming for, the Maroons still ended with a 32-5 record, making the 2015 class the "winningest" class in Central baseball history.

"Beating Mahomet in the Regional semifinal after losing to them in the regular season."

What will you miss most about Central baseball?

"T'll miss the chemistry and work ethic we had as a team. That was the only team I've been on that went on the field expecting to win every game. We were a special group of guys."

"Currently playing baseball and basketball at Parkland. After that is a mystery."

Boys' tennis started off the season by winning the Peoria Invitational. The next week, they finished second at the Peoria Richwood's Invitational. Overall, the team finished 5th in the Big 12 Conference. The team's hard work paid off and they had many key wins during the \course of the season. Junior, Nikhil Thope qualified for the State Tournament in singles, and the doubles team of Michael Yoo and Hayden Dodds advanced to the State Tournament in doubles. The 2016 team will have a lot on their plate since four of the top six players are seniors, and will not be teturning next year due to this fact. The rest of the

"It was tough to adjust to at first, but after a couple of practices the cast didn't hinder me too much."

What is your best memory of high school football?

"It would have to be this past season. A great group of seniors leading a very talented team to the state semifinals. It doesn't get any better."

ee Central Maroon's Football season of 2015 was one to remember. To start the season, the Maroons made a statement with a big win against Marion High School. They then came back home the next week to get a hard fought victory against Dunlap, despite the lightning postponing the game to the next day. The third week of the season brought the first loss to the Maroons, a tough game against Peoria Notre Dame High School, who proved t0 be the toughest regular season opponent. Central then went ona tear forthe rest of the season, winning six cons¢Cutive games to close out the regular season. During that/Streteh, the Maroons had big wins against Danville High Sehool and cross- town rival Champaign Centennial High Sehool: The playoff selection show yielded Central a/first round match up with downstate Jacksonville High Sehool: In the first round game, the Maroons sent a message throughout the state with their record setting eighty points in a victory in front of the home crowd. Central then went on to win huge playoff games against Decatur Eisenhower High School and Washington High School. The Maroons found themselves in the IHSA Semifinal for only the se¢eond time in school history. On a snow covered field the Maroons met their match in Lincoln-Way West. The seasOm may have ended in a loss but as a whole it was a tremendous victory for the Champaign Central Football Programs

( ess Boys' Golf team overall had a great season. They started offby winning Ist place atthe Tigery Kick-Off Classic, hosted at the Urbana Country Club/ Connor Butts lead the team with an 80, while Ben Carnahan and Matt Becker added scores of 81. Then, coming ba¢k from last year for revenge, the team pushed through at the Champaign County Tournament, Ben Carnahan shot 80 to place 5th and Connor Butts shot 81 to place 7th. The team placed Ist and beat cross town rival Centennial High School by 3 strokes. The boys finished off their team season at Regionals and were able to send Ben Carnahan, Matt Becker, and Connor Butts to Sectionals. Connor/Butts was able to make it to state with a score of 76.

he Girls' team had a good season. The five semiors, Amanda Runyan, Bella Ritz, Courtney Gould, Sarah Halberstadt, and Madison Rice set high standards for the rest of their teammates. The girls were able to win’ eight matches and only lose four. Players continued this run by placing 4th in many big tournaments as well as a 2nd place at county where sophomore Mia Hayasaki placed Ist for her team. The team moved to the Big 12 tournament and they did well. The team was able to get’ 3rd place with the help of Mia Hayasaki placing 6th as well as freshman Mackenzie McCoy placing 7th and Senior Amanda Runyan with a 10th place finish. The girls finished to season with a 3rd place finish at Regionals leading to a 8th place finish at Sectionals to cap off a good season.

6 bias Central varsity girls’ tennis team had another successful season for the books. Five of the eight varsity players from last year were lost due to graduation, but the team bounced back this year and placed higher than last year in most of the tournaments and matches. Becatise ofthe loss ofseniors from 2014, the team relied on cusrent senior talent and leadership in order for the season tobe as successful as itwas the previous year. Girls varsity temmis had some key wins such as the 5-4 victory over Saint Thomas More, 6-3 victory over Normal West, and the complete blowout against Gibson City. At conference the team placed fourth, and did even better in the Sectionals Tournament, finishing inthird place. The firstdoubles team pairing ofOliviaDodds andKelly Wright qualifiedforState where they lost their first match, won théit second, and finished their season by losing their third mateh, The team ended their season with an impressive seyen wins and atwo loss record, and afour wins and two loss(¢onference record. The girls’ squad consisted of five semiors, seven juniors, five sophomores and six freshman. Junior Olivia Dodds led the team inthe first spot on varsity forsingles, followed by senior Kelly Wright inthe number fwo spot. Senior Brenda Gonzalez played in the number tliree spot, junior Virginia Tufte played in the fourth spot, in the fifth spot was sophomore Diana Golmeeva, andinthe sixth and final spot was senior Jessica Wagner. The team next year has big shoes to fill, but with the young talent this team has, they are destined to perform just as well as this year.

The swimmers were coached by head coach Will Barker and assistant coach Liza Dickensen. The divers were coached by KeganSkelton.Loosingsevenseniorslastseasonwas hard for the team, but fortunately they gained four "Superfreshmen" that consisted of Maddie Hieser, Natalie\Stumph,MorganMcKee andtheMVP ofthe season,RiverJones.These girlswereextremely hard working and scored major points forthe team. The great team chemistry and leadership was seen throughout, the season as the team was able to accomplish big achievements and crush both their team and personal goals. The girlsthen went ontoplace 3rdat Big 12, where they had around 95% lifetime best times. Finishing the season atSectionals where the girls placed 2nd out of 30 teams and had 100% lifetime best times there. ee Central Maroons girls' varsity volleyball team had a successful season. The team was lead by six seniors, JessicaYoung,ArielAimone,MadelineMcMahon,and captains Kelley McDonald, Madeleine Legrande, and Dana Westfield, as well as many juniors, and a couple of sophomores. Central had an unusually large team this ygar with seventeen girls, but they seemed to have made itwork. With fifth year coach, Evan Hook, Central finished with a conference record of 7-4 and an overall record of 26-11. The volleyball team traveled to three tournaments; two of which were ones the team had to stay overnight. The girls placed third in the O'Fallon tournament and foaght hard at the Mt.Pulaski tournament, but did not place. The girls did, however, win the Mahomet tournament forthe second year in a row. This years group of girls was Wery close as a team, even with all different grade levels together. Two of the senior athletes committed to division one schools to continue their volleyball careers. Dana Westfield signed her National Letter of Intent, to Temple University, with Maddie LeGrande signing to the College of Charleston. The girls started out their post-season play beating Urbana in the regional quarterfinals. The Maroons finished their season with a tough loss against Mattoon in the regional semi finals. The Girls' volleyball team finished third im the Big 12, an improvement from being fourth last year.

How has your experience in the program been? "It's been really good! I've been like a witness to the building of a really strong program."

What advice do you give to younger players? "Don't be afraid to have fun. Yell, dance on the court. Just enjoy yourself and try not to let what other people think or say about how you play affect you."

he 2015/15 Boys cross country team was made up of mostly underclassmen due to upperclassmen becoming injured. Although the season was filled with lots of ups and downs, the team pushed through and trained even harder.This season, senior Henry Sills took first place at Twin City making it his first meet to take Ist, which also helped the team to place 2nd among 5 other competitive teams. He went on to receive the all twin city award and all conference award. Next season they will have 5/7 returning runners which makes Coach Johnson hopeful for these next years to come. He hopes for this team to continue growing and be able to qualify for state as a team.

There are better seasons bound to come given these girls are hard workers and have a strong bond among them.

"I always need a good 10 minutes of relaxing time to just think about the race. I also always do what my team likes to call 'Henry Seal Stretch’ in order to stretch out my stomach and avoid side stitch.”

Who has been a big influence in your running career? "While Corey White was a senior and I was a sophomore, he pushed me to be the best runner I could be. He knew I had potential and didn't want to see me waste it due to lack of effort."

Favorite memory of cross country?

Starting off on a strong foot, the boys prepare "Winning my first meet that happened to be Twin City themselves for a long three mile race ahead of them. this year. It felt great to see all my hard work pay off."

"T loaded up on carbs and hydrated a lot the night before. In the morning J ate either granola bars or bagels. I also listen to music on the bus to keep me focused."

Who has been a big influence on your running career?

"My brothers encouraged me to get into running. Freshman year my brother was #1 on the boys XC team and I wanted to follow in their footsteps. My coaches have also believed in me on and off the course."

Favorite memory of cross country?

"Sophomore year a few friends and I decided to pull a prank on Coach Schultz. We pretended we were having a fight and he freaked."

he Central Maroons Boys' Varsity soccer team had a great season, ending with a record of 10-10-1. They were ranked fifth in the Big 12 Conference with a conference record of 5-5-0. Central had a tough start, but came back in their tournament with a 7-0 win against Rantoul, followed by four more wins against Manual, STM, Richwoods and Centennial. Four games later the Maroons played the undefeated Urbana Uni High team and finished the game with a tie 1-1 thanks to a goal from Ben Jefferson with seven minutes left in the game. The team finished their season with a win against Normal Community and two tough losses against Danville and Normal West. In regional semifinals, the Maroons played a great game, beating Mattoon to advance in post-season play. The boys fought hard in the regional final game against third seed Danville, but could not quite pull out the win. This years team consisted of twelve seniors, seven juniors, two sophomores and three freshmen. The boys were led by seniors Juan Garcia and Gavin Schrader, as well as junior Ryan Chalifoux. Central's regular season game at Danville was a cancer awareness game and fundraiser for a Danville soccer player who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. All of the Central players bought and wore a cancer awareness shirt up until kickoff, in support of the Danville player. Because of this outstanding sportsmanship, Central was nominated for and received the Myro Rys Sportsmanship Award. This award is a prestigious annual recognition of one team in the state that exhibited class and effort to help others. Varsity Boys' Swim and Dive team. The team finished their season with an impressive undefeated dual meet record of 6-0. The swim team as coached by Will Barker, Colin McGill, Tom Bockman, and diving coach Don Waybright. The ream consisted of seven freshman, eight sophomores, nd five juniors.The boys were lead by seniors Hunter ones, Ben Lun, Corbin Phillips, Ben Storsved, and ton Woods. The dive team had one of their best ; ever. Senior Corbin Phillips now ranks third he all-time leading scorers for Central's vith a score of 263.80. He placed 41st at state. d him in sixth place on the all-time leading Central's diving is freshman Mikey Hynds of 239.25. He placed 47th at state. On » side, senior Payton Woods swam a 50 0.69 seconds placing him first on the rd for all-time fastest times in Central's [fe won sectionals and then moved on to state he won the state title in the 50 freestyle. He nedaled in the 100 freestyle. Senior Hunter Jones ed himself fifth place among Central's all-time stboard for the 100 breastroke. The 200 yard ley relay of Luke Thompson, Hunter Jones, Cam arnard, and Payton Woods won sectionals and beat le previous first place record for Central swimmers. "It's interesting since we have sectionals and then prelims at state. Then they take the top 12 swimmers and advance to finals. It's really difficult to make finals because we only have one class for swimming!"

How rewarding did itfeel to win the State Championship?

"Winning state was an indescribable feeling. Itmade me realize that all my hard work has paid off. It's afeeling I'll never forget."

What are your goals for the future?

"T want to go on to Michigan State, win abig 10 title, and eventually make itto the NCAA championships, ultimately joining the Olympic team in 2020!"

Te 2015-2016 varsity cheer team held tryouts at the end of May. This team was made of 20 members. Although the team encountered a rocky season with injuries, they finished through with a fantastic performance. The 2015-2016 team truly bonded over the season full of challenging practices, long bus rides, and competition days. The events and experiences the team shared formed and strengthened friendships that are sure to last a life time. The team consisted of 7 sophomores, 6juniors, and 7 seniors. Seniors include Alexis Westwater, Lydia Sink, Hannah Kincade, Trenise Stokes, Emily Grumish, Capricia Whittaker, and Desirae Shirley. These special seniors will be greatly missed, with their leadership being atough act to follow. However, the underclassmen have learned valuable lessons from theirgraduating teammates and will learn tobe leaders fornext season. Team bonding majorly contributed to the season and helped the teammates push through the obstacles they faced this year. Central cheerleading hasreally grown asa family and will continue tothrive throughout future seasons.

6 ihe boys’ basketball team finished their season with a 17 and 11 record. After playing highly ranked teams from Chicago, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Kentucky at the beginning of the season, they dominated in conference play, only losing two games. At one point in the season the team had a 9 and 10 record, but they won 8 games in a row including overtime comeback wins against Bloomington and Danville, and a big win at Centennial. In Regional play, they made it past Mattoon and beat Effingham for the Regional title. In the) Sectional Semi-Final game against Springfield Lanphier, their season came to an end. This was\a good year for Central basketball, considering, many players on the team had never played onvarsity before. We can look forward tonext year, with most ofthe players returning. Sophomore Tim Finke was selected for the first team all BIG 12 Conference, first team News-Gazette All Area, and the second team all-state. Nick Finke was selected for the second team News-Gazette All Area, with Bailey Dee and Sam Lessaris ashonorable mentions.

Academics

Wwe playing sports and going to school dances are an important part of high school, what students are really here for isto learn. Central isall about guiding students along their path of education that will eventually lead to graduation. During high school, students will recognize the tools they need to succeed in their future. By the time students reach graduation, they will have evolved into the person they need to be for their life long journey.

Electives give students the chance to explore their specific interests or allow them to practice what they know they want to do. If students want to continue those interests outside of the school day, they can join one of Central's innumerable clubs to meet other people who share the same passion.

Students challenge themselves by taking accelerated or AP classes, preparing for work after high school. If students succeed in their rigorous courses, they will be awarded with an Academic letter or an invitation into National Honor Society. Counselors and teachers are always encouraging their students to push themselves so they can be ready for the next step after high school.

S cience Olympiad, an academic club run by Mr. Gelsthorpe and Ms. Wachtel, meets every Wednesday after school. This year, the sectionals tournament was held at Parkland College, while the University of Illinois hosts State. There are two types of events to compete in: study events and building events. For study events, the students must learn all about the topics that they will be tested over on site. Building events require the participant to build a machine meeting the requirements of the Science Olympiad regulations, prior to the competition date.

aT time has come again where Central High celebrates their African-American students. | During the month of February, African-American students and staff members planned two events wherg they could share their excitement about their culturdy The first celebration was with NAAPID-Nationgll African-American Parent Involvement Day. This day focuses on getting African-American parents to know what is going on in the school of their child. There were guest speakers from professional athletes and others to talk about their experience as an A tfican= American student in school. The prograni also consisted of students from each grade at Central telling the audience about themselves and were senior Coltrane Zerai-Che announced that She was accepted to the historically black college Spelman i in Atlanta, Georgia. The second program that Central hosted was the annual African-American celebration. This year the theme was The Evolution of Black, where the students and staff in charge of the show gave the student body a brief part of the history of blacks from the 1960's to the present day. However, it was not a boring history lesson because while they went through the decades, the students were acting out significant dances, songs and people of that point of time.

a Central High School, the arts programs are very encouraged and supported by peers and the staff. Being a part of an art's program allows students to truly express themselves through music, movement, singing, and creating. Being in high school requires great academic efforts that can consume lots of time. To escape the stress of school work, students can join various programs like theater, dance team, band, color guard, orenroll increative artclasses. Specifically, Central offers courses like Art Survey, Cultural Arts, Ceramics, Photography, Painting, Drawing, and Sculpting. When students sign up for these classes, they are granted the opportunity to utilize their creative talents and imagination to construct their best work while receiving credit for graduation. By trying out just asingle art class, auditioning for ashow or team, or pursuing music, students can open doors to new interests they have discovered. This simple step away from the comfort zone can result in students taking more advanced classes or improving their skills in the future to excel with their talents. Particularly, students who stay with their artistic activities get the chance to build up their accomplishments, such as landing a main role in a play, moving upa chair in band, getting a solo in the choir, calling themselves captain of a team, or having their artwork displayed and featured in different platforms. Although there are many different variations of art, all of the students who pursue their artistic abilities unite under one school to create an admirable program and reputation of Central High School. The support that the Central art program receives truly builds up the confidence of the participating students and permits them totake theirtalents to anew level, showing the school just how exceptional they are.

rom FebruatymbS-20, 2016 the famous story of The Little Mermaid was broughtto Champaign by C2 Productions. Central and Centennial High Sclioel teamed up to create a talented cast for the Disney story revival. The historic Virginia Theater was the perfect stage for the amazing production», The classic tale of the mermaid with dreams of becoming a human came to life in downtown Champaign. Senior Shireen Hassan played the lead character of Ariel, paired with senior Quinton Ohlsson as Prince Erié. The duo pulled off the roles of star-crossed lovers flawlessly. Students took aerial arts and dance lessonsto prepare for their roles as various characters and sea creatures. All their dedication afd rehearsal produced afantastic performance from both casts.

TE Marching Maroons season starts at the beginning of August with band camp. Band camp is a week long experience at Centennial High School where all 197 members learn their show for the year. From there, they traveled to the practice field everyday at the beginning of eighth hour until four o' clock to perfect every detail possible. Through the 2015 season, the band also performed at multiple competitions, football games, and events such the Sweet Corn Hestival and competitions in Monticello, Metamora, and Mahomet. tudents look forward to their senior year all S throughout their time at Central High School. With seniority comes many privileges, such as standing in the front row of the bleacher bums section, or winning the Powderpuff game no matter the score. Senior year is one of the hardest years of high school. Students decide what they want from and for their futures. Just when true friendships are formed, graduation comes. While some friendships and relationships do not last, many become the basis of lifelong friendships. Central High School marks the beginning of many students’ futures and graduation signals their release into the world.

Every senior, whether they begin atCentral ortransfer in, has adifferent outlook on lifethan when they entered. The students ofCentral come from all walks of life but by the end oftheir high school career, they find acommon ground and make bonds that lastalifetime. Each student sees high school, their fellow students, teachers, and life,with anew perspective.

While it can be difficult to leave Central, the school's many students have learned to call home, it is just one more step towards their future. Whatever that may be.

W° a crazy year! The 106th Maroon was a joy to create. We made it our goal to cover as many events and people as we could. We loved creating this book and we loved meeting new students and getting to know Central High School better. It has been a true honor being the editors for this wonderful yearbook.
