Welcome to the first issue of the LRConnect newsletter for this academic year. This newsletter brings you library events, news and updates and is packed with interesting information and challenges. We will be promoting reading throughout by our termly newsletter and competitions, book clubs, displays, library lessons for Year 7, and much more… This academic year we will be enhancing our library collection tremendously and the update of our collection will reflect our diverse, inclusive community at Hymers. In the near future we will be moving to Oliver V5 library catalogue, which is an attractive, and user-friendly system that I am sure will help a great deal to promote reading. At Hymers, we make sure that reading is at the core of what we do and we strongly recommend 20 minutes of reading at home every day. As always this issue of the newsletter will be packed with interesting information and summer reading challenges. I am Miss Tenniswood, the Library Manager at Hymers College. I have two very cute but naughty pugs called Peanut and Biscuit. I love reading books that shock and surprise me. I have a degree in Library and Information Studies.
