Messenger Hymers Junior School

October 2024

Message from the Head Teacher

We have been delighted by the way the children have settled into their new classes and this first edition of the Junior School Messenger this academic year reflects the busy and exciting learning environment that exists within the school. Our new children, just starting out on their Hymers journey, have adapted extremely well, making the most of the opportunities on offer, including our extensive extra-curricular programme. It was wonderful to see the way our Year 5 children conducted themselves on their residential trip at PGL Caythorpe

Year 6 Leadership Club Assembly Year 6 Leadership Club discussed ways to raise awareness amongst pupils of the important support roles within Hymers on Tuesday 8 October. Members of the Leadership Club interviewed Mrs James, our school nurse, and Mrs Holtby, Office Administrator and

Homework Club supervisor. We asked questions about their working environment and overviews of their jobs. All the people involved thoroughly enjoyed it and were grateful to Mrs James and Mrs Holtby for coming along.

Court in Lincolnshire. They approached the challenges of being away from home and of conquering fears on the activities with resilience, determination and humour. Most pleasing, however, was seeing the principles of our CARE Code shining through during the weekend, as children supported one another fantastically well, forging new friendships and bonds whilst working together in teams. I am also very grateful to our parent body for their ongoing support for our trips programme. Peter Doyle | Head of Junior School The gifts will be donated to two local charities: Hull Churches Home from Hospital Service and Hull Food Bank

Harvest Festival A huge thank you to all parents and children who contributed gifts for our Harvest Festival which was celebrated on Tuesday 15 October. Mr Doyle interviewed some children about what life is like living on a farm before telling the children an interesting story about kindness. The Year 6 Choir performed and all the children sang The Harvest Samba.
