Message from the Head The summer term is always a particularly busy time in the Junior School as the ‘Dates for your Diary’ section on the back page shows. I will write this week with more details about the events in the lead up to the May half-term holiday. Our schedule has become even busier as a result of different groups and teams qualifying for National Finals this term. Our Year 5 and 6 Dance Group finished in 2nd place at the Great Big Dance Off regionals in Halifax, qualifying for the National Final in Oxford on Thursday 8th June. Our U11 Swimming team’s success in the ESSA regionals are reported on page 3, and they travel to Sheffield on Saturday 17th June for the ESSA National Final. Our U11 Girls’ Football team did brilliantly in Wolverhampton last week to qualify for the ISFA National Finals at St George’s Park on Wednesday 21st June (this has resulted in Sports Day being moved to Friday 23rd June). Finally our highly successful Year 6 Choir will compete at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod on Wednesday 5th July. We wish all of our children competing at the highest level this term the very best of luck! I hope you enjoy reading this latest edition of the Junior Monthly Messenger.

Peter Doyle, Head of Junior School

House Music Competition Friday 31st March saw the second annual Junior School House Music Competition. Instrumentalists and singers from all year groups took part and were adjudicated by Mrs Fong. There were some super performances and the day ended with every child participating in the whole House Singing event. It was great to see such enthusiastic and creative renditions of Mamma Mia and Revolting Children. This year’s winners were Brandesburton. Well done to everyone!
