Welcome
Dear Guests, ust over 4 years ago we opened the first solid timber hotel in Leogang, at 1,050m altitude in the SalzburgerLand. The Forsthofalm is a revolutionary timber construction, made of wood right down to the last beechwood dowel – responding to highest ecological and energy efficiency demands set by ourselves and doing justice to our beautiful environment. In 2009 we were awarded the Austrian State Prize for Energy Efficiency in Tourism in the category New Construction. In 2011 this was followed by the Austrian Ecolabel and the official European Union Ecolabel. In 2012 the publishing house Freizeit awarded the Wellness Aphrodite to the Forsthofalm in the category Ecology & Sustainability. In addition the Q-Service Association gave us the Q-Service Award in the Hospitality category. For us 2013 is the year to complete our vision and extend the Forsthofalm by a second timber structure. This ‘solid wood throughout’ principle brings with it calming, relaxing and stimulating scent of wood, an important part of the overall feel good factor. The new and complete Forsthofalm enables us to position the hotel as
an exciting and inspirational all year round destination, regardless of weather or season. To us, nature means freedom – it is our credo and our way of life. This attitude is omnipresent throughout and most dominant in the architecture, the culinary concept and the Spa services – the Forsthofalm is a world in itself. It is about sheer endless vastness, deep green forests, stony summits, rushing water, wilderness, mountain air, complete isolation. Secret Forest
A
hotel made entirely of local timber, stone, glass and indigenous materials, blending effortlessly into the landscape – the revolutionary timber construction and spectacular panorama bring nature inside, creating harmony and equilibrium between interior and exterior. This is a unique and new concept in hotel architecture, built in conformity with the Thoma-Holz100 system: The roof, walls and ceilings are constructed entirely of moon timber whereby following time honoured traditions, the trees are felled between November and January, at the time when no sap is produced.

he previous, semi-circular building is extended with a new wing, increasing capacity by more than twofold. The solid wood building is held together with 210,000 beechwood dowels – no glue or nails are used. Designed by nature is also the theme for the interior, dominated by warm, earthy colours and local materials such as spruce, pine & stone pine, green slate, linen, jute, clay and leather. In addition to the general feel good factor and the authenticity of materials it is of paramount importance to the owners to achieve a matchless level of sustainability and resource saving energy supply through photovoltaic and biomass functions.

rom 1 August 2013 27 premium double rooms & junior suites measuring 35-50sqm plus four suites with fireplaces measuring 65-70sqm are added, bringing the total capacity at Forsthofalm to 52 rooms & suites. All accommodation boasts fabulous bathrooms and large balcony or terrace – breathtaking views always included! In addition to Small Eden and Large Eden the room categories embrace Small Eden Zirbe and Small Eden Tower for a sleep in paradise. Our junior suites Mountain Love are very private spaces with cuddle corner and open fires. These rooms are created with togetherness in mind, for love to unfold and write its own Alpine story. As mysterious as the forest are our Secret Forest Suites – suspended in a hammock and surrounded by nature, you can virtually taste the freedom – unobtrusive, simple and unique. Continue with whispers of love in the outdoor sauna on your balcony … The highlight of highlights at the Forsthofalm is the Suite 180° with panoramic bathroom and freestanding bathtub, lounge with home theatre and walk-in dressing room. Interiors and equipment are second to none – the 180 degree panorama is simply unique!

New from 1 August Our new Spa boasts a 300sqm rooftop terrace with swimming pool – the ultimate place for an energy boost. A new sauna landscape with Finnish sauna, steam room and Bio sauna offers relaxation on highest level and in the sense of the word. Individual rest areas, a specially appointed cosy Nest, a chimney lounge, SPAbar as well as a generous Cardio fitness room with floor to ceiling windows are further highlights. An uninterrupted light shaft from ground floor to roof offers spectacular aspects on all levels.
Reliably good Our Spa treatments with homemade oils, creams, scrubs and wraps are based on handpicked herbs and give blissful relaxation. Claudia Widauer harvests these herbs in the Hotel’s own herb garden and the surrounding Alpine meadows. The garden offers a Bio Pond and Kneipp pool for invigorating refreshment, the comfortable wooden deckchairs invite for sunbathing.

Take part in a holistic Hatha yoga experience in our exceptional timber hotel surrounded by the meadows and forests of the grassy and rocky Leogang mountains. This Yoga programme is designed to be suitable for all skill levels. The sessions are each morning and late afternoon and we practice asanas (Yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises) as well as meditation and deep relaxation; Yoga & meditative nature walks complete the programme. Claudia Müller-Ostenried & the YOGAdeluxe-team are professional Yoga & meditation instructors, teaching modern Hatha Yoga, in which traditional techniques are combined with latest knowledge in biomechanics and bioenergetics. Winter on the slopes – ski in & ski out More than 200km of perfectly maintained pistes surrounded by natural deep snow slopes – this is the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang. More? Just put on your skis or snowboards right outside our door – and off you go – all the way up to around 2,000m. As an alternative to Alpine ski there are 40km of cross country tracks, a host of winter hiking routes, snow covered slopes for snow shoe excursions and a bobsleigh run adjacent to the Forsthofalm. Last but by no means least a romantic horse drawn sleigh tour through the spellbinding snow landscape of Leogang should not be missed!

Terms & conditions Check in & check out Check in from 3pm, check out by 11am on day of departure. Late check out on request at €39 per person incl use of SPAnorama and afternoon snack. Please advise us of late arrival after 8.30pm so we can prepare a sumptuous and hearty Alm snack for you.
Departure: for reasons of heavy traffic we recommend that you avoid leaving between 10am and 2pm. For winter arrivals we advise that cars are equipped with good snow tyres and to carry snow chains, as they may prove necessary for the ascent to the Forsthofalm. Alternatively we offer a free shuttle service from Schwarzleotal.

Rooms & parking
Arrival: during the peak season, we recommend avoiding arrivals between 12 noon and 5pm, as you may encounter heavy traffic.
We regret that we cannot confirm a set floor or room number, nor a certain table in the restaurant. However, we shall take note of your special requests and do our utmost to oblige. We have a non-smoking policy in all rooms. Bathrobes, slippers and hairdryers in all rooms. Outside parking is included, underground parking is charged at €5 per night.
Alm tip: to avoid undue delays we advise to arrive during the morning and take advantage of the excellent breakfast service at the Forsthofalm.
Dogs For the benefit of allergy sufferers dogs are permitted on our first floor only and it is essential to have prior notice and reservation. In case of severe soiling we reserve the right to charge an additional fee up to €200 for final cleaning, and the right to settle with your dog liability insurance in the event of inventory damage. Deposits & cancellation fees A deposit of 25% of the total sum is payable at time of booking confirmation. For cancellations 1 month to one week prior to arrival we charge 70%, during the last week prior to arrival date, late arrival or early departure we charge 90%. Please contact us to take out travel insurance against cancellations & travel interruptions from our partner, Europäische Reiseversicherung AG.
