30th anniversary as members of Relais & Châteaux

This year we celebrate our 30th anniversary as members of Relais & Châteaux. Beat the peaks

Spectacular

The Tyrolean Zugspitz arena that surrounds the Singer Sporthotel & SPA is a true paradise for hikers. These range from easy footpaths and thrilling adventure trails to challenging climbs and steep peaks. Your constant companions along the way: breathtaking views of crystal clear mountain lakes, green forests and lush meadows. The idyll is framed by majestic peaks: the Thaneller, Roter Stein and Abendspitz in the Lechtal Alps, the Zugspitz – Germany’s highest mountain – in the Wetterstein range, and the Mieming Chain provide the magical setting for one of the Tyrol’s most beautiful holiday regions. Experience pure, unparalleled wanderlust.

A new, vertiginous rope suspension bridge now spans the B179 near Reutte. Opened in November 2014, the bridge provides a link between the Ehrenberg Ruin and Fort Claudia for pedestrians with a good head for heights. The bridge is accessible all year round and is held aloft by four 60mm-diameter supporting cables. The bridge reaches a maximum height of 114m above the mountain pass.

Kletterwald Bichlbach climbing forest 5 courses and over 60 climbing obstacles at the Bichlbach climbing forest promise action packed fun for the whole family. From easy routes for little climbers to tricky challenges, there is something for everyone. Try the floating unicycle, the sky trapeze and the giant spider web, have a go at the ladder of angels, or float over a mountain stream with the flying fox – a safe opportunity for testing your balance, skill, courage and strength. It’s entirely up to you whether to climb the same easy trail over and over again, or forge ahead to the highest treetops. No prior experience is required, and you can hire climbing equipment on site. Training will be provided by professional safety instructors who are available to offer advice and assistance at any time.

Our spacious family suites and apartments have separate bedrooms and provide plenty of space to allow every member of the family to retreat quietly should they wish to. A special children’s menu gives our younger gourmet guests plenty to choose from. As we are a family hotel, our Singer’s SPA also offers treatments for children – special pampering is as beneficial for our youngest guests as it is for us.

Martina Edlinger New Restaurant Manager

Our Assistant Manager Daniel Maier has a Q&A session with new Restaurant Manager Martina Edlinger How long have you been a member of the Singer Sporthotel & SPA team? Martina Edlinger: I found the Singer Sporthotel & SPA on the Internet, and then had an interview with Mr Singer, which brought me to my current job. In the winter of 2013 I became chef de rang in the Zirbenstube restaurant. What do you value most about your place of work? Martina Edlinger: Working with and for the Singer family is great. And my colleagues are all really nice and a constant source of inspiration. We’re a team and always there to help each other. We’re just a great outfit! And it’s wonderful to be on hand for our guests; it’s enjoyable and gives me a lot of job satisfaction. What is the most enjoyable part of your job? Martina Edlinger: The best parts are looking after our guests and the variety the job brings. But chatting and laughing with the guests is something I particularly enjoy. This summer you take over the management of the restaurant. What does this challenge mean to you? Martina Edlinger: It is a great honour for me that the Singer family has handed me this responsibility. It is also a wonderful opportunity for my own development, to take on more responsibility, get ahead professionally and take on leadership tasks. This will help me gather valuable experience at a fairly young age. Of course, I am also self-critical and know that much depends on my work – especially for our guests and my colleagues! It’s a wonderful challenge that I am thrilled to accept. How important is service to you? Martina Edlinger: The most important thing is a warm and friendly attitude: that’s an absolute must! However a certain degree of aptitude, speed and professionalism is also very much required. After all, we are providing a service. In this industry, the ability to communicate with guests in an honest, sincere and civil way is particularly important. We need to focus on our guests and empathise with them. This enables us to provide the top quality, expert service they deserve. Our aim has to be to exceed the expectations of our guests, and not merely to meet them. And, most importantly: we are wish-fulfillers. Therefore, we need to acquire a knack for anticipating our guests’ wishes. You are totally committed to your profession. What do you do to relax? What are your hobbies? Martina Edlinger: I do a lot of sports. I swim and play volleyball, but I also like to go shopping every now and then as it makes a nice change and is a good way to unwind. However, my favourite hobby is my job.

New rooms

Raazalp, Galtjoch & Abendspitze Last autumn, we were at last able to fulfil the long-held dream of completely refurbishing rooms in the Rainberg and Rainberg Family categories. 9 rooms are now improved with a more spacious layout, comprising 3 each in the Raazalp, Galtjoch and Abendspitze categories. The ambience of the rooms is defined by mature pine and fresh, new colour schemes. Marble bathrooms – most with a bath and walk-in shower – provide modern comforts. All of the rooms contain a large flat-screen TV, minibar, desk and comfortable seating area. Make yourself at home!

Review Relais & Châteaux

Gourmet Festival A top level culinary event! ‘Rheingau meets Tyrol’ was our motto for this Festival where top chefs Dirk Schröer from Relais & Châteaux Hotel Burg Schwarzenstein and our own Thomas Kunath came together to indulge our guests with their exceptional culinary synergy. Moët & Chandon and Hennessy Cognac XO provided the suitable accompaniment.

Well done! Our apprentice Ann-Christin Heins has been awarded the gold medal for Tyrol at the National Championships for Apprentices in the Tourism Industry 2015, and came in at second place overall. Our heartfelt congratulations to Ann-Christin!

Looking forward

Singer’s Oktoberfest Austrian and Bavarian specialities, original Oktoberfest beer and music provided by folk duo Die Zwei Sterntaler made for a roaring party that kept going until the early hours for the 2014 Singer’s Oktoberfest! To be continued – the 2nd Singer’s Oktoberfest is planned for 26 September 2015.
