The Active Transport Program aims to improve safety, accessibility, and connectivity through targeted pedestrian and shared path infrastructure improvements. Key projects delivered under the program include:

The scope of services includes undertaking a Level 2 condition assessment of 23 bridges and culverts, incorporating maintenance recommendations, remaining useful life (RUL) estimates, and asset revaluation in accordance with AASB 16. The work includes the provision of all necessary equipment, management services, and technical personnel/resources to complete the inspections and prepare condition reports in accordance with the Department of Transport (DoT) Road Structures Inspection Manual (2018)
The foyer at the Braybrook Hub is a large space, but it is currently under–utilised and not activated most of the time, and there have been many safety incidents. There is also a lack of wayfinding and concierge services, so the community centre reception desk has become the default reception area for the whole hub. The purpose of the project is to activate the foyer space, make it more welcoming, and improve wayfinding. This budget
Braybrook Library Makers Space – Design and Construct
provision will fund detailed design.
This project will create a new maker space at the Braybrook library to support creativity and learning and also relocate the customer service desk to provide a better experience for customers.
Maribyrnong Library – Site Options Analysis
This project will analyse and score site options for Maribyrnong Library. The project is needed because the site where Maribyrnong library is currently located is leased from Highpoint Shopping Centre and the lease ends in 2028 and it is unknown whether it will be possible to extend the lease. There are a number of options to consider including another shopfront within Highpoint shopping centre, Robert Barret Reserve, Raleigh Road Activity Centre or privately owned sites.

Install two shade structures in the ground level outdoor play area over the hammock area and the deck. This will ensure that the facility is fit for purpose and compliant with ACEQUA National Quality Standards

Braybrook Community Hub Neighbourhood Battery and Energy Upgrade
Maribyrnong City Council has a submitted a State Government grant application for a BESS Battery to be installed at the Braybrook Community Hub. This Battery is described as a ‘Behind the Meter” 100–150KW battery installation, where the Braybrook hub will be able to store electricity generated from the existing roof top mounted 99KW solar panel array.

A joint Use Agreement is being negotiated between MCC and West Footscray primary school to make a portion of school grounds publicly accessible. Upgrades deemed essential to the JUA will be performed using 2025/26 capital budget however non–essential upgrades are to be considered as part of the 2026/27 budget process. FMAC Little Africa activation works
A grant application of $250,000 has been made for Little Africa activation works. A minimum cash co–contribution of at least 20% of the grant value of $250,000 is required. Little Africa activation works include revitalisation of Nicholson Street through new lighting, gateway signage, shopfront improvements, and community–led public art to celebrate cultural identity, improve safety and amenity, and attract more visitors to Footscray’s multicultural heart.

Asset renewal of Sport specific infrastructure as part of the Asset renewal program. Assets and Capital completed an audit of all sporting assets across the municipality. Some assets require renewal due to reaching end of useful life or are damaged beyond repair.
Assets to be considered include sports ground chain mesh fence, enclosed venue fencing, ball stop fencing, goal posts, scoreboards, player shelters, spectator seating, scorers and timekeeper’s facilities, sports field drainage and irrigation.
