Entrepreneurship is the process of creatively combining factors of production to fulfill a want or need of society in a profitable exchange. This class introduces students to the principles of business needed to undertake this process, then presents the opportunity to move through the process itself. Students will learn the language and fundamentals of business, how to target a specific market, the means of understanding competitive landscape, and the basics of marketing a product. They will then leverage these skills to conceive and write their own comprehensive and well-researched business plan. Students will leave the class with an understanding of how businesses are started, structured, and operated, and will be conversational in the language of entrepreneurship.
This survey course will examine global markets, the international monetary system, trade, and the value of money. Students will develop an understanding of the socio-economic impact of globalization, especially as it relates to international relations and business opportunities. Students will be immersed in current events pertaining to politics and the global economy while exploring their own impact on a global scale.
