TIC Austin to do One Capitol Square construction TIC will soon start construc tion on downtown Austin’s se cond largest building in terms of lease space. One Capitol Sq uare will be a sprawling 15-story of fice tower near the State Capitol at 15th and Lavaca streets. “It’s probably our largest job to date,” says TIC project manager Nick Sukup. “And we’re looking forward to building it because it’s going to be a prestigious project for everyone involved.” When completed in summer 1986, One Capitol Square will provide some 432,000 square feet of office lease space and another 30,000 square feet of retail space. Architecturally, the building is being called “a modem inter pretation of Austin’s traditional architecture.” Its exterior is sym metrical in design and clad in Roman travertine. A bronze-glass rotunda bisects the structure and culminates in an arch at the 15 th floor. The interior of One Capitol Square includes a three-story rotunda which serves as the main lobby and retail center.

TIC Austin will soon start construction of the 15-story One Capitol Square office building. The project for Brunei Construction includes some 462,000 square feet of space.
The building is a design of Goleman & Rolfe Associates, Inc. For TIC, One Capitol Square will be a project for general con tractor, Brunei Construction Co. The company will be responsible for drywall, finishing and paint on the core, plus tenant stock ing. Unit prices for tenant buildout have also been submitted. Nick says that stocking will begin in early August with shaftwall and mechanical room con struction to start soon afterwards. According to Nick, with the building’s eight elevators, shaftwall will be a big part of the core work.
