MBS Helps Create Another San Antonio Landmark things can become rather com plicated, so we are lucky to have Supervisor Ron Atnip di recting our crews. Ron is being assisted by foremen Ismael Herrera and Robert Mons, who are both good coordina tors and experts on drywall work. Together these men are helping achieve outstanding rates of production.

Our offices around Texas and in Atlanta are establishing quite a reputation for an ability to build out large, complex sta diums. Now our work on the Alamodome is proving again that our crews have what it takes to build these large, com plex projects by demonstrating how they can work to tight schedules while maintaining exceptional quality.

The new Alamodome, which will seat an audience of 65,000, and will include two ice arenas, will be used for sports events and conventions. MBS is in stalling all the metal stud and sheetrock, building walls, ceil ings, furrdowns and press boxes. After working on the project for several months, MBS is now installing over 6,000 lin-

ear feet of furrdowns, 10,000 feet of partitioning and furred CMU, as well as almost 100,000 sq. ft. of drywall ceil ings. MBS is working on most of the six floors including fin ishing out the meeting rooms, installing furrdowns on the first floor, building out walls, and offices on the mezzanine level, finishing out the press boxes on the club level and in stalling smoke baffles through out the press boxes. One of the most tricky parts of the project has been the mechanical rooms on the sixth floor where we have installed framing around the entire top of the building. Since this is a very large con struction project, the work has been divided into packages and distributed among 23 prime contractors. MBS is currently

working with one of these con tractors, Salazar Construction. With so many different con tractors working at the site.

A major challenge of the job has been handling materials. Restocking with new materials and equipment and hauling off trash has not been easy since none of the elevators goes all the way to the top of the struc ture. Despite these challenges our teams are both on schedule and on budget, thanks to the great crew which includes Luis Aguilar, Joe Cantu, Rudy Carbajal, Jose Elizondo, Mauro Fernandez, Jesse Flo res, Cliff Frandsen, David Herrera, Miguel Morales, and Angel Puga.
