00B [begins ptrestogioys clubhouse CDI has commenced work on the Sweetwater Country Club, a facility designed to be the Southwest’s most prestigious country club and one which is currently ranked as one of the country’s most appealing. The country club is located in southwest Houston and is part of the 7500 acre master planned community of First Colony. First Colony combines all the ingredients necessary to an atmosphere of unhurried living with its country club, residential neighborhoods, hotels schools, shopping centers, offices, medical facilities, and welllandscaped parks. As the official headquarters for the Ladies Professional Golf Association, Sweetwater will serve as the center for all LPGA facilities and programs. Beginning in 1984, the club will host a new major tournament - an LPGA tournament players championship. Well-known golfer, Nancy Lopez, will

be the golf pro at Sweetwater. Present CDI activity centers on construction of the three-story brick exterior clubhouse. The clubhouse is the focal point of all the activities offered by the club - golf, tennis, swimming, racquetball and physical fitness. In addition, the wellappointed clubhouse incorporates several lounges, formal and informal dining rooms, private meeting rooms and pro shops. The scope of GDI’s work on the clubhouse will be the stud-framing, thermal insulation, drywall, partitioning and acoustical ceilings. Joe Gilligan, the project’s administrator and the estimator of the job says, “The key to this job will be the sequencing. There is a great deal of detailed woodwork and elaborate glass which will make our job move slower.” The project supervisor is Gary Hall.

I,

Sweetwater Country Club, located in southwest Houston, will be the official headquarters for the Ladies Professional Golf Association. The club will encompass many activities including golf, tennis, racquetball and physical fitness. CDI has just begun the interior construction on the clubhouse.

The golf course was designed by Roger Packard. Its 27 holes have been planned to provide a challenge for any golfer. Sweetwater Country Club is being developed by a partnership between Sugarland Properties, a subsidiary of Gerald Hines Interests, and Kindred Watts and Associates of Houston, one of the country’s leading management firms. Award-winning architect Charles Moore of the San Francisco firm of Charles Moore and William Turnbull designed the clubhouse. Industrial Building Systems of Houston is the general contractor. CDI enjoys a fine working relationship with Industrial Building Systems and its president Jim Metzger. CDI is proud to participate in the construction of such a prestigious project.
