“In my version of a block-of-the-month, participants work on a “chunk” of the quilt each month. Each monthly section isn’t necessarily a same-size block, giving the concept its name,” she explains.
You’ll love the latest release by Lamb Farm Designs, a whimsical mix of timeless, nature inspired motifs, including swirling strawberry vines, dainty blooms, and classic ginghams in soft, saturated hues that bring fresh picked feeling to any project.
Even better, they’ve created a BOM quilt of the same name,
Named for Canton, Ohio, the hometown of Judie Rothermel, this group includes rich tones of inky blue, slate, butterscotch, sage and garnet mixed with neutrals. The intricate wallpaper stripe, spaced florals and leaf and vine coordinates are reminiscent of Judie’s early quilting influences and popular looks of the region.
The iconic “Schoolhouse” quilting motif is the inspiration for this new group by Paula Barnes of Red Crinoline Quilts, in deep blues mixed with neutrals. Her needlepoint-inspired schoolhouse print in dark blues and light grounds for positivenegative effects lends itself to fusion quilts with your own hand stitching, embroidery, etc. Gold accent coordinates add interest.
Carrie Quinn of Pieceful Gathering Quilt Shop leans on inspiration from her patriotic upbringing for her newest collection.
“I was raised in a very patriotic home. My father was truly the most patriotic person that I have ever known, and he took great pleasure in waking up on the Fourth of July with loud a recording of Stars and Stripes Forever. Our family never missed the 4th of July parade in my hometown of Deerfield, Illinois. Love of Country was just how it was in our house.”
As Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts explains, “Neutrals are a quilter’s best friend. It just may be the most used fabric we have in our stash, and we’re always looking for new prints to add”

Joyful Journal was inspired by a Dyers Journal in the collection of the Smithsonian. A textile artist of the past carefully jotted down the formulas used to create the delightful prints in my newest collection.
