September 27, 2014 Dear Italian Low Vision Academy XV Meeting Organizers, on behalf of the Low Vision Research Group (LVRG) Committee, I would like to express our appreciation for inviting ARVO 2014 presenters to join the Short Communication Session of the LVA Annual Meeting, Milan, October 3-4, 2014. The Low Vision Research Group exists to promote research of high scientific quality that is of value to individuals with low vision and to encourage the cooperation and participation by basic researchers, applied researchers, optometrists, ophthalmologists, educators, rehabilitation specialists and all other professionals who serve the needs of individuals with visual impairment. The LVRG Committee focuses its activities during the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual meeting in coordination with ARVO, among which are the Oberdorfer Award in Low Vision, the Envision-Atwell Award, and the Low Vision Social. We believe that joint efforts to promote sharing of knowledge in the field of low-vision can improve the quality of scientific research and the quality of life of low-vision people.
