The new logo of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel PAX is born as a bold gesture of rupture and awareness.

The peace flag, once a universal symbol of hope, has been emptied of its essence, reduced to a sign worn out by habit and indifference. Its colors, once harmonious and pure, no longer speak to the heart: scattered, merged, blurred, they reflect the chaos inhabiting both the world and the human mind.

In this new visual sign, the reassuring linearity of colored bands disappears. What emerges instead is disorder, fracture, the loss of balance: a silent cry reminding us that true peace is no longer a stable concept, but a fragile search lost in the noise of our time.

The historic Maratona logo, too, has stripped itself of its original colors, renouncing continuity to mirror the collective confusion. Yet in this radical gesture there is no resignation—rather, an invitation, an appeal to face fragmentation with clarity and, together, attempt to rebuild an inner order. The logo is not a solution, but a question. It does not point to a finish line, but to a journey: one that each of us is called to take, to restore meaning to symbols, strength to words, and light to our consciences.

From nothing comes nothing

Peace is often invoked as something external to us: the end of wars, the silence of weapons, the return to coexistence. History shows how readily humanity, when faced with conflict, resorts to violence, as if a primitive impulse still suggests that force is the quickest response to what we cannot manage.

Today, this impulse manifests not only on the battlefield, but also in the constant drive to produce weapons. The arms industry and the technological research that sustains it are not merely instruments of defense or deterrence; they become mechanisms of power and destruction. In this way, war is no longer simply a contained event, but a system that tends to sustain and reproduce itself.

can glimpse an essential teaching: to accept impermanence and to relinquish the illusion of total control.

This attitude also concerns our relationship with nature, so often exploited and wounded. Authentic peace cannot exist unless we learn to live in balance with the environment that sustains us. The Dolomites are not merely an extraordinary landscape, but a quiet reminder of restraint, care, and responsibility.

"Inner peace is not an escape from the world, but the condition that allows us to inhabit it without turning every difference into a threat."

And yet, a peace built solely on external conditions remains fragile. It can be negotiated, imposed, celebrated and fracture at the first sign of collective frustration. Peace cannot be reduced to the mere absence of war; it requires an inner disposition, the ability to inhabit conflict without immediately turning it into domination or annihilation.

The Japanese Zen master Eihei Dōgen wrote: “A flower falls, even though we love it; and a weed grows, even though we do not love it.” In these words, one

Inner peace is not an escape from the world, but the condition that allows us to inhabit it without turning every difference into a threat.

May this peaceful Maratona be an opportunity to look into each other’s eyes and remember that the world can be more beautiful. May peace be with us and within us, today and every day of the year.

Wishing everyone a good, serene, quiet, and majestic Maratona, like the Dolomites that surround us.

I’m from South Tyrol, the sunny side of the Alps. Here I find ideal conditions to mature into a special apple - since 30 years.

Where colors meet, the Maratona medal is born

It is not just a medal. It is a symbol. A meeting point between material, color, and people that embodies the meaning of this year’s Maratona theme: PAX.

PAX stands for peace, encounter, sharing, and unity. A message that takes shape through a medal capable of showing how diversity can be transformed into beauty. Each medal is born through a long artisanal process. Everything begins with 3.5 cubic meters of 50 mm maple wood boards, which are then divided into smaller pieces ready to become thousands of unique medals. The first step is color: the surfaces are painted with a yellow base and worked using powdered mineral pigments mixed with a natural fixative. Colors meet, overlap, and blend together, creating shades that are always different and unrepeatable.

And this is precisely where the medal takes on its deepest meaning. Just as every person is different, every medal becomes unique. No two are alike. Colors blend together just as people, cultures, languages, and stories come together along the roads of the Maratona. And it is exactly from the union of these differences that something extraordinary is born. The PAX logo then takes shape, carved into the wood through a handcrafted process that gives depth and character to every piece. The wooden boards are then transformed into the round medal shapes, completed with the stamp on the back, the hole for the cord, and the final manual finishing touches. The final result is not simply a medal to wear around your neck after crossing the finish line. It is the symbol of a community coming together in the Dolomites to share the same passion, overcoming borders and differences.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Daniel Frenes and MALBO SRL for once again contributing to the creation of thousands of unique medals, capable of preserving the spirit of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel.

Paolo Bettini: Finding Peace on a Bicycle

At the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel, dedicated to peace, Paolo Bettini reflects on cycling as a space for connection: a place where everyone can find their own rhythm and a sense of harmony

On a bicycle, connection doesn’t come through a screen: it doesn’t vibrate or send notifications. When you ride, friendships form, even among strangers. You stop and help each other if needed. Peace can also grow from these small gestures. It is not only a global issue, but a daily choice: to reject indifference, to reach out to others, to build relationships.

“That’s how it is among cyclists: you meet and immediately feel in harmony, at peace. I believe that those who ride, perhaps because cycling is more of a craft than a sport, understand the effort it requires, and for that reason they instantly connect with others. Whether someone is an engineer, a company director, a worker, a plumber, or a former athlete, when you run into each other on the street, you greet each other casually, on equal footing, it’s almost as if social barriers are flattened,” says

Paolo Bettini, who in the 2000s was a leading figure in one-day races, winning Olympic gold in Athens 2004 and two consecutive World Championship titles (2006 and 2007).

On a bike, you move through the landscape, appreciating changes in light, especially when they intensify the colors of the mountains. You allow yourself the time to fully experience it. And you feel the satisfaction of reaching the finish line, regardless of how long it takes.

“I know so many people who discovered cycling later in life; then they started riding granfondos and imagine themselves as the Pogačar or the Eddy Merckx of the moment. It’s about the dream, the journey, the harmony that is created. Everyone approaches cycling in their own way, but always with a touch of competitiveness. Then each person finds their own limit and, within that limit, feels like a champion, because it’s a challenge with yourself before it is with others. That’s the kind of effort cycling demands: that’s why it becomes a craft, but also an approach, a life exercise, a way to be at peace,” Bettini adds.

Bettini has taken part in the Maratona nine times, first in 2011, and then continuously since 2021. Reflecting on the experience, he recalls how Alfredo Martini, former head coach of the Italian national road team, used to say that cycling, when practiced wisely, not necessarily at the highest level, offers just the right kind of effort, the kind that helps you find inner peace.

“I’ve only done the long route once. My ideal course is the medium. Over the past two years, I’ve ridden the Sellaronda because I involved my partner, theatre actress Marianella Bargilli. I told her: come with me to the Maratona, you’ll experience something special. She replied: ‘I can’t, I’ve never ridden in the mountains.’ And I said: it will be the atmosphere, the landscape, and the energy of the morning, something that already builds over the weekend, that will carry you up,” Bettini recounts.

Two years ago they rode the Sellaronda together; last year they improved their time by half an hour. This year he still doesn’t know which route they will choose, but he emphasizes that whichever route you take, it is an experience that stays with you.

In cycling, preparation matters too. Choosing what to bring and how

to dress is essential to making the experience enjoyable and truly taking in the landscape. It’s a balance between lightness and care, between what is essential and what is necessary.

“I always carry a small pouch attached to the bike, with arm warmers, a wind jacket, my ‘survival kit,’ as I call it. I remember that on the Sella Pass we stopped for a strudel and a coffee. We lost twenty minutes, then on the Gardena we ran into rain and I felt cold like I hadn’t in years. We were almost at the finish, but luckily I had gloves, a jacket, and arm warmers: your upper body needs to be protected. the rest you can manage,” Bettini concludes.

On the Dolomite passes, everyone arrives wearing a waterproof rain jacket, made mandatory by the organizers of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel. All around, the breathtaking spectacle of the Dolomites.

ITALIANO

Alta Badia is Alta Badia è

Ladina - Ladin

Our roots go back to ancient times, cherished by the millennial breath of the mountains. And it is the mountains that have protected our language, that unravels in the five sister valleys. While much has changed in recent times, the respect for traditions, for our roots, is still intact. Important. Decisive. Nor has the sense of hospitality changed. It is an integral part of our culture. After all, if we did not welcome you with a bundé, or if we did not tell you giulan, we are convinced that it wouldn’t be the same. No, it definitely wouldn’t be.

Sweet and stern, formidable and elegant, majestic and beautiful: today places that relate to the sublime are rare. The Dolomites are one of those places. It is no coincidence that they are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sassongher, Sas dla Crusc and all the peaks that rear above Alta Badia make us accept, without any hesitation, the undeniable truth that beauty exists. More than ever, approaching nature in these days is not only an occasion to find yourself but it is also essential in imagining the future.

Maestosa Majestic

Alta Badia is committed to being a responsible valley, in a concrete way on the sustainability front. To date, it is the fourth territorial reality in Italy to receive the prestigious GSTC certification, which signifies the orchestration between tourism operators, institutions, locals and also the numerous guests visiting the valley, thus emphasizing commitment and the responsibility in the world of tourism.

See you at the Maratona Village

Three days to enjoy together

From July 2nd to July 4th the Maratona Village in San Leonardo in Badia once again becomes the meeting point of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel.

As every year, in the days leading up to the race, San Leonardo turns into the vibrant heart of the event thanks to its lively and welcoming Village. With exhibition stands, music, fashion shows, entertainment and local gastronomy, thousands of cycling enthusiasts and visitors gather here to experience what has become the symbolic meeting place of the famous granfondo.

From July 2nd to 4th the Maratona Village will be the perfect place to meet, relax and have fun together while discovering the latest news from the cycling world and beyond.

New arrivals and returning partners

The 2026 Maratona Village brings plenty of exciting new additions, offering even more reasons to explore the stands and discover something unexpected.

Among this year’s highlights is Marlene, offering delicious applebased tastings, together with a brand-new local partner straight from the Dolomites: Dolomitico. This refreshing natural skiwasser, produced in South Tyrol, represents the authentic spirit of the region and its local supply chain. New exhibitors joining the Village this year include Trudi, Drexpharma, Reboots, Rouleur, Blacksheep and Senfter. Audi will also be present with an interactive Formula 1 car configurator experience.

Forty-five exhibitors and special guests

The strong presence of partner companies at the Maratona Village

is always a source of pride for both organizers and visitors, who bring curiosity, passion and enthusiasm to the event every year.

A total of 45 exhibitors will take part in the 2026 edition, helping create an even more vibrant and engaging atmosphere. The central stage will once again host fashion shows, interviews, presentations and entertainment throughout the weekend.

Walking through the Village, visitors will also have the opportunity to meet well-known personalities from the world of cycling, sport and beyond. Guests will be available for interviews, autograph sessions, photos and informal moments with the public.

Everything cyclists need

The Maratona Village once again confirms its free bike storage service, a much-appreciated initiative that allows visitors to move around comfortably without using

their cars. It is another small but meaningful gesture reflecting the Maratona’s strong commitment to sustainability and greener mobility.

Pinarello and Castelli will also return, while the Technogym stand will offer visitors the chance to

meet company experts and discuss training, wellness and performance. Pre-race massage services, organized together with the Fleming school, will once again be available to help riders prepare in the best possible way before race day.

The friends of the maratona

At the Maratona Village, Segafredo will once again offer coffee to visitors, the perfect excuse to take a break between stands and fully enjoy the atmosphere of the event. Returning partners also include Kask + Koo with their latest helmet and eyewear collections, together with Enervit, ready to advise participants on the best nutrition products according to their chosen route. Mapei will once again bring energy and entertainment to the Village, while Selle Italia will present its innovative saddle fitting system designed to help cyclists find their ideal riding position. Innovation and sustainability will

also play a key role thanks to Enel and Audi, both featuring dedicated technology areas focused on energy and electric mobility.

Flavours to discover

More than just a food area, the Maratona Village offers visitors a true journey through flavours. The tasting area will feature products and specialties from many long-standing Maratona partners including Cantine Maschio, Delicious Trail, Loacker, Yoga, Ambrosoli, Segafredo, Senfter and Dolomitico. From snacks and energy products to sweet and savoury specialties and refreshing drinks, there will be something for every taste in a welcoming and convivial atmosphere.

The official maratona shop

Inside the gym hall, visitors will find the official Maratona Shop, the ideal place to take home an exclusive souvenir from the event. The collaboration between Castelli and Maratona continues once again this year, bringing an even wider collection of technical cycling apparel and lifestyle products dedicated to the event. The official Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel collection includes hoodies, t-shirts, the iconic colourful cycling kit and matching accessories such as gloves, socks, arm warmers and wristbands, everything needed to

ride in true Maratona style.

Special edition products created for the 39th edition of the race by Kask and Eevye will also be available.

An even greener village

The Maratona’s commitment to environmental sustainability continues with the return of the Green Corner, a dedicated recycling area where volunteers will help visitors separate waste correctly and promote more sustainable habits. Exhibitors will also contribute by reducing the use of traditional plastic and favouring paper and biodegradable materials wherever possible.

The shuttle service will return as well, although visitors are still encouraged to reach the Village by bike, a sustainable and enjoyable way to experience the Maratona atmosphere while adding a few extra training kilometres before race day.

As tradition dictates, the Village stage will host the popular Friday and Saturday afternoon talk shows featuring guests, athletes and well-known personalities from the cycling world. Full details and schedules will be announced through the official Maratona newsletter.

We look forward to welcoming you once again to the Maratona Village: a place to meet, discover, celebrate and share the passion for cycling together.

Dr. Ambrosoli Memorial Hospital Foundation ETS

Michele Scarponi Foundation ETS

Sport for good

A JERSEY THAT RIDES FOR PEACE

MDD COMPETIZIONE JERSEY ’26 – PAX

The official jersey of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel embodies the 39th edition’s theme: PAX.

The white PAX logo dominates the design as a symbol of courage, clarity, and openness. The fractured colors echo the logo, reflecting a world unsettled yet searching for balance. Peace here is not perfect harmony, but a deliberate choice – made again and again.

On the steepest climbs or after a puncture, an anonymous rider stops to help. We all know that gesture. Like the timeless image of Gino Bartali and Fausto Coppi sharing a bottle, what matters is not who gave, but that it was given.

Peace is relationship. It is leaving the fast lane to ride beside a stranger and ask how they are. With every pedal stroke, we choose connection over division, solidarity over indifference.

Crafted from ventilated Strada micromesh stretch fabric with raw-cut sleeves and an integrated race-number pocket, the jersey ensures comfort and performance across the Dolomite passes.

More than a garment, it is a commitment: e ride not only to finish—but to ride together, in peace.

Carrying a long-sleeved waterproof rain jacket for the entire duration of the race is mandatory.

The requirement to carry a long-sleeved waterproof rain jacket (no vests), for the entire duration of the race, now part of the official race rules, stems from the experience of the previous editions, during which adverse weather conditions highlighted how quickly temperatures can change throughout the day. In the mountains, weather can be extremely unpredictable, with sudden drops in temperature and unexpected downpours that can pose a risk to participants’ safety. The fact that the course reaches altitudes above 2200 meters makes these changes even more critical, as high-altitude weather conditions can shift rapidly, especially during bad weather. Furthermore, the increasing impact of climate change has led to more frequent instances of sudden and intense rainfall, making it impossible to accurately predict what might happen over the course of the day. For this reason, ensuring that every athlete is equipped with appropriate gear is essential not only for comfort but, more importantly, for their safety.

The jacket must be kept from the start to the finish line. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in the athlete being banned from participating in future editions of the race for a period of three years.

Checks will be carried out at the start and at the finish to verify that participants have a rain jacket, ensuring everyone is properly prepared to face potentially adverse weather conditions. This measure contributes to making the race safer and more manageable for all participants.

Il progetto “Sön

roda

IS OUR PEACE

PASS

Here, where the mountains cradle the silence and time flows to the rhythm of breath, peace is not a destination. It is a climb.

Arabba Fodom Dolomites: an authentic soul of legend and adventure

In the pulsing heart of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site, lies a place where bare rock turns to poetry and time yields to the gentle rhythm of the seasons. This is Arabba, a jewel nestled between the imposing Sella Massif and the majestic Marmolada glacier. In this extraordinary natural amphitheater, nature reigns supreme, yet humanity has learned to live in perfect harmony with it, jealously guarding ancient traditions and a sincere hospitality deeply rooted in Ladin culture.

Arabba is far more than just a renowned Alpine resort; it is a gateway to experiences that leave an indelible mark on the soul. During the winter, it transforms into

a paradise for the most discerning skiers. As a strategic hub within the vast Dolomiti Superski area, it offers direct access to the famous Sellaronda and the Great War Tour, routes where history intertwines with sport amidst breathtaking panoramas. Here, every descent is pure emotion, and every turn is an encounter with the "Great Beauty" of the snow-capped peaks. As the snow melts, “Fodom”, the ancient Ladin name for the valley, reveals its wilder, more captivating side. In summer, the mountain trails become natural terraces. From panoramic trekking and adrenaline-fueled vie ferrate to technical mountain bike trails, the area offers total immersion in a

pristine ecosystem. For road cycling enthusiasts, Arabba is the stuff of legend. The Pordoi, Campolongo, Falzarego, Valparola, Fedaia and Giau passes are iconic challenges that have shaped the very history of cycling.

What truly sets this territory apart, however, is its profound sense of identity. Walking through the eighteen “vijinánze”, settlement clusters dating back to before the year 1000, one can still feel the pride of a community that lovingly preserves its language, rural architecture, and authentic flavors. In Arabba, hospitality is not merely a service; it is a defining trait of the soul.

Mountain biking in Val di Fassa: a journey where excitement meets nature

Long before modern roads and cycle paths, Val di Fassa was criss-crossed by trails trodden by pilgrims and wayfarers, who travelled on foot or on horseback, following the slow rhythm of the journey. Thanks to these routes, as well as more recent ones, even today you can explore the area on foot and, above all, by mountain bike, covering long distances whilst maintaining a genuine connection with the environment. This is a way of experiencing the landscape where movement becomes an experience: the slow pace encourages observation and a

deep connection with the landscape, amidst the silence and majesty of the Dolomites. This is how one fully grasps the meaning of peace in nature.

For those who spend their free time and holidays on two wheels, the Dolomites offer an unrivalled wealth of routes: hundreds of kilometres that have shaped the history of off-road cycling in the mountains. In Val di Fassa, alongside the famous Sellaronda MTB Tour, riders will find trails of varying technical difficulty, to be enjoyed independently or with expert guides, who often lead the way to the lesser-known and, for

this very reason, most fascinating parts of the area. It’s not necessarily the case that cycling has to be slow: tackling a fast track, such as those in the Fassa bike park or the UCI Enduro World Series (which have been held in the valley for years), brings an extraordinary sense of inner peace. Cycling in Val di Fassa is, therefore, an invitation to rediscover the Dolomites as a stunning landscape and a meeting place, where every route is an opportunity to rediscover harmony (information and routes: www.fassa.com).

In this edition we decided to use the space provided to share a message related to theme of Peace. This image needs no introduction, it portrays a piece of cycling history in a gesture that, with its simplicity, speaks louden than words.

An image of sharp and bold contours with high contrasting colours, meant to symbolically depict different viewpoints which, only through dialogue, make the realization of a greater, common project possible.

Peace cannot be taken for granted, we must build and preserve it. It can be fostered starting from different perspective, through dialogue leading understanding, through listening to reach mutual knowledge and respect for the others.

Colle Santa Lucia is a village that knew how to maintain powerful bonds with its land, traditions, Ladin culture- an ancient heritage that centuries used mountains as shield and today, here, struggles to find its vital space. Even these mountains, often imbued with symbolic meaning, were once theater of war- a conflict that left visibles signs, not only on the landscape.

Thanks to the ‘Maratona dles Dolomites - Enel’, these places find the the space to speak with their own voice to thousand of cyclists who met every year sharing a passion that unites rather than divides.

The Dolomites, once a battlefield, are today a symobol of coexistence among people.

Val Fiorentina

The Fiorentina Valley is a wonderful summer and winter destination for tourists. Located in the heart of the Unesco Dolomites System of Pelmo –Croda da Lago, it is formed by little Ladin villages at 1300 meters of altitude and between all its hallmarks, its landscapes are almost untouched, in some ways “wild”, because of its stunning views of large emotional impact.

The Valley is also characterized by a very rich historical and cultural heritage rooted in the prehistory. The pristine nature and the cultural richness make the time and its flow a well present item.

By selecting the distinctive features containing the Fiorentina Valley’s identity, the slogan “Natura senza tempo - Timeless nature” has been thought. It suggests that visitors have changed their vision of tourism compared to some years ago. In fact, the last times revealed a new way for tourism by rediscovering the pleasure of living nature in a slowly way. Hereby, in addition to alpine ski, alternative activities have taken off: ski touring and snowshoe hiking in winter or trekking and biking in summer. The valley, in fact, offers several e-bike or mountain bike itineraries suitable for every level, the tracks of which run through the most beautiful and scenic landscapes of the Dolomites. An example is the Tour of the Alpine Pastures, where every biker has also the possibility to stop for a tasting break in one of the several huts that surround the Valley.
