FAMILY UPDATE SUMMER 2026
A SUMMER WELL SPENT Across our Maplewood communities, each season brings new opportunities to connect, explore, and create lasting memories. There has been no shortage of memorable moments this season. From outdoor adventures and local excursions to festive celebrations and everyday connections, residents embraced each day with curiosity, joy, and a spirit of togetherness. Take a look at some of the highlights that made the season one to remember.
SAFELYCONNECTED: EXPANDING PEACE OF MIND After successfully supporting residents in our Memory Care neighborhoods, we expanded our optional SafelyConnected by Maplewood program to Assisted Living earlier this year, and the results have been very encouraging. SafelyConnected provides immediate alerts when a fall occurs, including unwitnessed falls, helping our care teams respond quickly while gaining valuable insight to personalize care and help reduce the risk of repeat falls. Designed with resident dignity and privacy in mind, SafelyConnected offers an added layer of support while promoting independence. To learn more, please contact your community's clinical team.
RECOGNIZING OUR ASSOCIATES Last month, we celebrated the people who bring our communities to life each and every day during MSL Week. Through their compassion, dedication, and commitment to excellence, our associates create meaningful experiences that help residents live with purpose, joy, and a true sense of belonging. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a conversation, or going above and beyond in ways big and small, our associates make a lasting difference in the lives of residents and one another. To our incredible team, thank you for all that you do. You are the heart of Maplewood.
SOAKING UP SUMMER Summer brought countless opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the season, connect with nature, and share time together within our communities. From tending gardens and participating in outdoor fitness classes to bike rides, refreshing summer beverages, live music, and afternoons spent with friends on the patio, there were many ways to embrace all that summer had to offer. Seasonal celebrations added even more opportunities to gather, including Fourth of July festivities, carnivals, cookouts, happy hours, and ice cream socials. Whether caring for flowers, enjoying a favorite summer treat, or spending time with family, friends, and team members, these moments reflected the warmth of community and the simple joys that make each season memorable.
ADVENTURES BEYOND OUR DOORS Living fully means continuing to explore, connect, and experience the world around us. This summer, residents enjoyed opportunities to do just that—venturing beyond our communities to discover new places, revisit favorite destinations, and share meaningful moments together. From cheering on their favorite baseball team and exploring local museums and aquariums to meeting friendly goats, admiring sand sculptures, and enjoying a day at the casino, each outing offered opportunities for connection, conversation, and creating memories together.
AN UNFORGETTABLE FIRST PITCH When resident Fred Brown, who is receiving hospice care, shared that attending a Cape Cod Baseball League game was one of the experiences that mattered most to him, our team helped make it happen. Residents from Maplewood at Mayflower Place traveled to Yarmouth, where Fred had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the game. It was a special opportunity to celebrate Fred and support him as he enjoyed a moment that meant so much to him.
INTRODUCING MEMORY LANE BAKING At Maplewood, we cherish the moments that bring families closer together. Memory Lane Baking is a new monthly gathering that invites residents living with dementia and their loved ones to share the joy of baking together. Through familiar recipes and the comforting experience of baking side by side, families can spark memories, share stories, and enjoy meaningful time with one another. More than baking, it's about spending quality time together in a warm, supportive environment where every shared smile, story, and recipe becomes part of the experience. Watch for your community's upcoming program calendar and plan to join us for the next Memory Lane Baking session. We look forward to welcoming you and your family.
JOIN US FOR OUR ALZHEIMER’S WALKS This fall, our communities will once again come together to support the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. Residents, families, associates, and friends are invited to participate, volunteer, or cheer on our teams as we raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research. To learn how you can get involved, please reach out to your community's Lifestyle Director.
FALL VACCINE CLINICS COMING SOON As we prepare for the fall season, we will once again host our annual on-site influenza and COVID-19 vaccination clinics to help protect the health and wellbeing of our residents and associates. Additional details, including your community's clinic date and participation information, will be shared in the coming weeks.
RESIDENT REFERRAL PROGRAM Your referrals are the ultimate compliment for us. Refer a friend to one of our communities, and enjoy a $2,500 referral credit as our way of saying thank you. Simply connect with one of our Community Relations Directors, share your friend’s details, and we’ll handle the rest. Introduce someone to the Maplewood Senior Living lifestyle and reap the rewards!
