On Friday, October 7, the newly elected Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi, announced Members of the Executive Council (MEC’s) after taking over from David Makhura. the hallmark of the administration will be changing townships, eradicating informal settlements, and improving hostels. Rand Water implements Stage 2 water restrictions across Gauteng! Rand Water has announced that it will be implementing Stage 2 water restrictions due to a rapid reduction in their reservoir levels.
overall reservoir storage capacity from 52% to 38%.These restrictions are to ensure that the overall reservoir storage capacity is restored back to 60%.
Municipalities in the Gauteng province have received urgent notices from the water utility on Tuesday, October 4.
Therefore, customers are requested to adopt water saving measures to conserve water during this period of supply restrictions.
The Rand Water supply restrictions have already resulted in some parts of the City of Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg Sedibeng and Tshwane experiencing low to no water supply.
Some water saving measures include: • Avoid washing cars with hosepipes, but using buckets; • Avoid watering gardens during the day, but do so between sunset and sunrise; • Avoid washing pavements with hosepipes, but use brooms to sweep; • Turn off taps while brushing teeth;
