Lesedi Municipality cares for the community!

The Leadership of Lesedi Local Municipality alongside the officials from the local schools that received the donation of school shoes and laptops. The leadership and officials from the Lesedi Local Municipality have been showing some love for its residents recently. Students in ten local schools in the area will now have better learning experiences thanks to the generosity of their local government. The exeutive Mayor, Mluleki Nkosi has donated 100 pairs of brand new school shoes to learners from impoverished and child-headed homes, as well as ten laptops to local schools in partnership with the Gauteng libraries online project. The initiative comes after the government called on local leaders to ensure school-readiness in the area. A programme was set up in January 2023 to monitor local schools, and it identified several challenges, including a lack of ICT resources and students without proper school uniforms. are Ratanda Secondary School, Khanya Lesedi, Shalimar Primary, A.G. Visser, Zikhethele, Endicott Primary, Fountain Five, Sithokomele Primary, Bertha Gxowa Primary, and MM Moeketsi Primary. Mayor Nkosi said that the Municipality would continue to work with these schools to ensure that learners receive equal and quality educational resources. The donations will go a long way in making students more comfortable and better equipped to learn.

Meanwhile, Mayor Nkosi was accompanied by officials from the municipality, recently visited the family of a minor who was electrocuted in an incident that took place in May 2022 (inset).
