Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. With the leaves changing and the temperatures finally cooling off, it's the perfect time to get outside and enjoy all of our amazing parks, programs, and events. October kicks off our fall season with exciting events like Music on Maple, Spaghetti Bingo Dinner, and Trunk or Treat! Don't forget to check out our new spooktastic Halloween house decorating contest. More information on these events can be found on pages 5-6. November and December will bring in the cold, but we are ready to provide plenty of holiday cheer! We will be kicking off the holiday season with the Christmas at the Center and Tree Lighting Ceremony, our giving events the Angel Tree and Stuff the Bus events, as well as our Christmas house decorating contest and coloring contest. We've got something for everyone this season! From new leisure classes, including chess, learning to speak Spanish, and many more! We are finishing off 2023 with a jam-packed schedule and cannot wait to see you all there!

Meet Parky Meet Parky, the heart and soul of our recreation department! With his perky ears and lively spirit, he's your go-to buddy for all things exciting this season. Born and raised in our scenic parks, Parky's connection with nature runs deep. Get ready for Trunk or Treat, where Parky's Halloween charm and a bag full of surprises will light up the event. But that's not all – Parky's stepping onto the court as the star player for Jr. NBA basketball. His energy and team spirit are contagious, adding a new level of excitement to the game. When the holidays roll in, Parky leads the way in our House Decorating Contests. Imagine a neighborhood adorned with lights and festive cheer – that's Parky's doing! "Christmas at the Center" is all about joy, and Parky's in his element. From carols to crafting, he's here to make the season merry and memorable. And on Thursday nights, it's "Music on Maple," hosted by none other than Parky himself. Groove to tunes, explore local delights – it's the ultimate evening out. As we dive into this season of fun, Parky's your guide. Whether you're chasing excitement or sharing laughter, Parky the Squirrel is here to make it all unforgettable. Come join in the joy!

Events Music on Maple Summer Sunset Thursday, September 21, 2023 Time: 6:00p. Location: N Maple Ave Join us for a fun evening saying “See you Later” to Summer as we welcome in the Fall season. Sport your shorts, floral shirts, and sandals before the Summer comes to an end. Stop by the Beer garden for a refreshing drink as you enjoy a delicious meal from your favorite food trucks. This event includes live music, vendors, food trucks, beer garden, and games!

Food Truck Frenzy & Movie Night

Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 Time: 5:00p Location: Woodward Park The Recreation Department is teaming up with the Manteca Chamber of Commerce to bring you a food truck frenzy and movie night. Come out and enjoy delicious eats from some of the best food trucks around, then settle down for a showing of the movie Super Mario Bros., under the stars. It's the perfect way to end the summer.

Bring your fur-babies out to Maple Ave to show off their “grrreat“ Halloween Costumes! Stop by for a pup cup, treat bag, and photo op! Enter your furry friend into a friendly pet Halloween contest. Trunk or Treat

Saturday, October 28, 2023 Time: 10:00a Location: Downtown Manteca Come on out to Downton Manteca to Trunk or Treat! Visit booths, vehicles, and stores to trick or treat. Wear your costumes to participate in our costume contest, pick a mini pumpkin to paint/decorate, and stop by the Rec booth in order to enter a coloring page into our Trunk or Treat coloring contest!

Christmas at the Center Thursday, December 7, 2023 Time: Tree Lighting at 5:30p. Location: City of Manteca Civic Center Happy Holidays! Join us at the Manteca Senior Center for an evening of Holiday celebrations! Observe the Tree Lighting at the Civic Center, followed by a variety of fun activities. Enjoy hot chocolate and cookies, write a letter to Santa, hear a live telling of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and More!

Mother-Son Dance “To Infinity and Beyond” – Astronauts and Aliens (Space themed) Friday, January 12, 2024 Location: Manteca Senior Center Mothers, Aunts, Grandmothers! Holiday Extras Halloween Home Decorating Contest Registration begins September 25th

Decorate the exterior of your home with Halloween Décor. Three Categories : Scariest, Best Theme, Best Overall. All Entries will be photographed and posted on the Rec Facebook page Location: Within Manteca City Limits (95336/95337) Must register at the Recreation Office by October 19th to be considered. Winners will be announced on October 30th.

Stuff The Bus / For Kids Sake

This program is for families that are struggling financially during this holiday season. To apply, families must live within the boundaries of Manteca Unified School District and have at least one child attending an MUSD school. Approval of applications is subject to availability of the program. Program applications available starting October 16th Deadline to submit an application is November 17th. To receive an application for your family to be considered for the program please email: stuffthebusforkidssake@gmail.com Donation drive at Manteca Walmart: SAT & SUN- December 2nd -3rd & 9th -10th Gift donation will be accepted at the Manteca Senior Center 295 Cherry Lane, starting November 1st- December 15th during business hours. Junior Recreation Leadership Ages: 13-15 The Junior Recreation Leader program gives teen students a chance to build leadership and basic communication skills by assisting Recreation staff in leading sports and recreation games, creative projects, and other functions. Participants must complete an application form / waiver and participate in an interview process prior to being accepted into the program. Once accepted, JRLs will be provided with a program T-shirt and are required to attend an orientation to educate them about the programs in which they will be assisting FEE: Application fee $25; Weekly fee: $85 per week. Financial Assistance Program Manteca Recreation & Community Services offers a scholarship program to help youth ages 18 and younger from low-income households participate in our recreation programs and activities! Eligible youths may receive discounted registration, depending upon availability of funding. The scholarship covers a percentage of the activity registration fee; the participant pays the remainder. March 2024: Make a splash with the Manteca Dolphins Swim Team! Look out for registration details in February/March as we gear up for an exciting season of competitive swimming. Spring 2024: Take the plunge into your lifeguarding career with our lifeguard certification courses this spring at Lincoln Pool. Tiny Tots Sports Ages: 3-6 (Divisions 3-4; 5-6)

These recreational co-ed programs are designed to encourage development of children’s motor skills, help them learn the basics of different sports, and prepare them for future sports participation. The program meets on five Saturdays and includes basic drills and scrimmages led by recreation staff. All participants will receive a team shirt. Times vary between 9:00a and 3:00p. Schedule will be emailed after registration closes. FEE: R $75 / NR $85

NFL Flag Football Ages: 5-13 The NFL Flag Football League is the premiere youth flag football league for boys and girls ages 5-13. Through practices and games, the program teaches players the fundamentals of football, good sportsmanship, and teamwork. Games will be on Saturdays. Each team will have at least one practice during the week and will play eight games. Practice days and time will be determined by the coach prior to the season start. Each participant will receive an NFL Flag Football jersey, mouthpiece, and certificate of participation. Team announcements and game schedule will be emailed after registration closes. FEE: R $110 / NR $120

Held at the Union Road Tennis Courts Ages: 4-6 A great introduction to the game of tennis, using USTA’s 36-ft. court, red-ball format. The focus is on skill-development, basics, and fun. Lessons are taught in a fun and positive atmosphere, covering basic fundamentals, grips, scoring, movement drills, and lots of fun! BEGINNER/NOVICE BMX RACING & STRIDER CLINIC Clinic Dates: September 24, October 15, November 19 Clinics Begin at 1:30p Sign ups for clinics are from 10:00a-1:00p on site at the BMX track. Clinic Details: $5.00 Fee per person (Beginner and Novice Level Only) Helmet, long-sleeves, and long pants are required. No pegs or chain guards allowed on bikes. Loaner bikes and helmets are available at no charge on a first-come first-served basis. Dates are subject to change. Ages: 15+ Zumba® is a dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin, pop, funk, reggae, and even some old-school jams to create a FUN, EASY workout that anyone can do! The basic-steps formula makes it easy to follow and modify for your needs. The routines are fun and combine fast and slow rhythms to tone and sculpt your entire body while burning fat. Dog Obedience

Ages: Handler must be 10+

This course is for beginners from puppies to full-grown dogs. The pups need to have completed the series of Parvo and Distemper shots, which usually happens at three to four months of age. Class includes regular obedience instruction, information on breaking bad habits, and socializing your pup with other dogs and people.
