Manning Valley Anglican College commenced as an educational institution on Thursday 30 January, 2003. On this day, our Foundation Students walked through our gates for the very first time, and our mission began in earnest. That mission, which continues to this day, is complex and fluid, yet always comes back to one simple notion:
We have since grown into a College that delivers a comprehensive, holistic education for students, from Pre Kindy through to Year 12. We acknowledge the importance of social development and spiritual guidance, and infuse these aspects into everything we do, in order to assist each child in discovering their fullest potential and becoming successful members and leaders in our community. We recognise that our student body has a variety of talents in all things academic, athletic and creative, and we work tirelessly to ensure that each child is given the opportunity to explore their interests and aspire to excellence.
The College, through its teaching staff, promotes a positive attitude towards learning and growing, setting our students on the life-long path of curiosity and discovery. We strive to make learning engaging and relevant, knowing that the critical skills our students build will assist them regardless of their path in life. Christianity is taught by the College to be the fundamental spiritual and moral basis of our lives. We encourage students to come to a personal faith in Jesus Christ, and guide them in applying his teachings to their everyday lives.

âLet your light shineâ is a guiding compass that encourages everyone to focus on the school vision of âfostering learning excellence within a Christian environment that encourages students to flourish in all aspects of lifeâ.
âIn the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heavenâ
As a Newcastle Anglican School every student is encouraged to flourish as individuals. We share the Newcastle Anglican vision, values and service philosophy.
âWe encourage individuality, promote student engagement, and accept eachstudentasanindividualcapableofachievinggreatnessâ
At Manning Valley Anglican College, we believe in a holistic education where teaching and learning is an important part of our role as a school. We believe that all students should strive to achieve their best academic, spiritual and creative potential. We are a community of lifelong learners whose shared values drive our commitment to continual improvement and individual achievement.
It is important to have a good start in life, and we are committed to providing each student with a strong foundation on which to build a love of learning.

Student wellbeing is at the core of our vision as educational leaders. For students to truly flourish as learners we understand the importance of providing a supporting environment that promotes individual mental, social, physical, emotional and spiritual health.
MVAC values the importance of every studentâs mental and emotional wellbeing.
The MVAC Way is a holistic approach to education that seeks to develop students as individuals. The MVAC Way creates independent learners who actively problem solve and self-direct their learning experience.
Under the guidance of Guy Claxtonâs Learning Power Approach, The MVAC Way is built on four core dispositions: Collaboration, Resilience, Resourcefulness and Engagement.
Together the four dispositions combine to allow students to grow and develop into flourishing members of the school community and beyond the college gates.
The MVAC Way takes emotional, social and physical wellbeing of all students and it begins in the classroom with clear instructional teaching strategies. Teachers nurture students to âlearn how to learnâ, empowering them with a toolkit of understanding on what it takes to be collaborative, resilient, resourceful and engaged.
The MVAC Way builds a skill set for life.
Powering the future through The MVAC Way.

It is important to have a good start in life, and our Junior School is committed to providing each student with a strong foundation on which to build a love of learning.
Our teachers are committed to nurturing the original spark that lies within each child, bringing them to their fullest potential. We want to see every child grow to be intellectually curious, persistent and eager to follow their aspirations. We understand that literacy and numeracy are the foundation of academic success, and these are a focus of our teaching. However, we believe that ability is nothing without the right attitude. As such, we encourage young minds to develop a positive relationship with learning, by placing a strong emphasis on the social, athletic and emotional aspects of education. It is our ultimate goal to see students transition to further schooling, eager to seek out knowledge to achieve their own purposes.
NESA defines six Key Learning Areas, and our core curriculum recognises their importance, devoting the bulk of our class time to the following subjects:
English
Mathematics
PersonalDevelopmentHealthandPhysicalEducation(PDHPE)
Science and Technology
Human Society and its Environment (HSIE)
Creative and Practical Arts
We are also able to offer further unique learning experiences, reflecting our emphasis on spiritual and cultural guidance, with classes in: Music and Christian Studies.

The Senior School builds on the strong foundation developed in younger years, so that each child follows a continuum of education in an enriching and stimulating environment. Students have the distinct advantage of individual attention, with ready access to excellent equipment, resources and technology.
Our Secondary teachers work with students to develop them holistically, identifying their strengths and talents so that they are able to let their light shine. As students move towards their Senior Studies, the College offers a broad range of subjects which allow them to choose the direction that best suits their outcomes.
Our aim is to assist each student to become an intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually grounded young person, in the College community and beyond.
From Years 7 to 10, students must meet the mandatory requirements determined by NESA, New South Wales Educational Standards Authority.
The following subjects form our core curriculum over those four years:

We acknowledge that students have different aspirations, and understand that education comes in many different shapes and sizes. Thatâs why we aim to prepare our students for the next stage of their learning journeyâs, whatever that may be.
Undertaking the Higher School Certificate represents a large commitment for both the students and the College. We understand that students attend school in their Senior years out of a desire to continue to learn.
Though we do not wish to overburden students in this significant period of their schooling, we have an expectation that Senior Students will rise to the task of leading the College community.
The College rests on an extensive site on the northern edge of Cundletown nestled within the Mid Coast region of NSW.
The existing College layout forms part of an ambitious master plan for future expansion. Our facilities are fitted with modern technologies and provide comfortable learning environments. Resources are ever changing to complement the curriculum and expand the learning experience.

Our Infants area boasts two beautiful landscaped and fully fenced, shaded playgrounds to facilitate safe play sessions. The playground areas encourage outdoor learning and sensory play for our younger students.
Junior School students have ample space to run and play during free time with the Junior Oval available at recess and lunch.
Senior School Students have ample room and activities including the installation of two state of the art basketball courts.
In addition to general purpose classrooms, students make use of a fully equipped kitchen, Visual Arts room, materials workshop, music room and science labs. Senior students are also able to make use of dedicated study spaces in the Senior building.

We are a BYOD school, which means that students from Year 6 (Year 5 from 2025) and up need to provide their own device to learn within the classroom.
The decision to include Junior School into the BYOD program means that the transition to high school begins from Year 5. This level of responsibility opens the learning pathways for students and teachers.
