When it comes to plumbing and heating, most homeowners only think about it when something goes wrong. A boiler stops working on a cold morning, a dripping tap becomes a leak, or a blocked drain starts causing problems in the kitchen. In those moments, what people want most is a reliable engineer, clear advice, and a service that feels straightforward from the first call.

Rightio Plumbing & Heating supports households across Liverpool with a wide range of plumbing and heating services. Whether it is a boiler breakdown, a boiler service, a leaking pipe, or a blocked waste, our aim is to get things back to normal quickly and professionally. We also help with radiators and pipework, toilets and taps, showers, general plumbing repairs, and clearing blockages. Where required, our team can also support with boiler installations and replacements, helping you choose the right solution for your home.

A common concern for homeowners is not knowing what will happen next, especially when you are trying to manage a busy household or keep costs under control That is why our approach focuses on good communication and a smooth customer journey. From the moment you contact us, our team will ask the right questions, arrange an appointment, and keep you updated. If further work is needed, we explain the options clearly, so you know what to expect and can make an informed decision before any work goes ahead. We know that many issues can be avoided with early intervention and simple maintenance. Regular boiler servicing helps spot potential faults before they turn into breakdowns, and addressing small leaks early can prevent damage to floors, ceilings, and cupboards. If your heating is not performing as it should, radiators have cold spots, or your boiler pressure keeps dropping, it is worth getting it checked sooner rather than later.

Rightio is proud to serve communities across Liverpool including Liverpool City Centre, Woolton, Allerton, Aigburth, Childwall, Crosby, and surrounding areas. We understand how important it is to have a trusted local option when you need help, especially during busy periods and colder months. We also offer an OAP discount, and all you need to do is mention this at the time of booking. If you need plumbing or heating support, you can speak to our friendly team to book an appointment or discuss your issue. Call 0151 676 0566 and we will be happy to help

STEPHANIE O’NEILL IS BREAKING BARRIERS AS A YOUNG PILOT

What inspired you to pursue flying at such a young age?

My first flying experience was at the age of 3, I don’t remember it but my family do as it was a rather traumatic experience for them. Technical issues with the aircraft, thunderstorms causing a not so smooth journey to Mallorca, but I hadn’t been happier. My uncle still tells me how I’d giggled and laughed for the entire journey Since then every holiday was made by the flight for me, I’d be more interested in sitting in the window seat and knowing what aircraft we were flying on than caring about the holiday destination itself. A passion which started from early childhood and continued to grow as I learned more about the industry and traveled further. What was the most challenging part of your flight training, and how did you overcome it?

As funding is cut for commercial airline courses, she is now seeking sponsorship to complete her dream of flying for TUI

Flight training in itself is incredibly challenging, countless written and practical exams which take months to prepare for and being in the UK, the weather can often lead to cancellations. The cost of becoming a pilot is similar to buying a house but unfortunately there’s no mortgage or loan available. This has been a personal challenge for myself, I’ve had to work and save for a number of years to pay for training and I’m just getting started with my pilots licenses. Juggling a full time job as Airline cabin crew and part time job as a gym instructor also has its challenges. My days off have been spent studying and if weather permitting, flying the planes out of Liverpool airport to gain the necessary skills to fly as a Private pilot. Work life balance hasn’t been easy but I’ve learned how to manage the workload and at times prioritise rest and socialising with friends to avoid burnout.

Women are still heavily underrepresented in aviation. Globally, only around 5–7% of commercial pilots are women. How do you feel about this?

Growing up I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do when I left school, at the time I was working numerous jobs in restaurants and bars Around the age of 16 I was flying home from a family holiday, I was flicking through the airlines magazines and there was a page highlighting female Pilots

age?

Around the age of 16 I was flying home from a family holiday, I was flicking through the airlines magazines and there was a page highlighting female Pilots and how the industry was pushing to get the percentage of female pilots above 5%. It hooked my attention and I felt a wave of relief and excitement to know I can plan towards a career. I was in shock to learn just a small percentage of females were qualified pilots and the statistics weren’t growing. Not surprising as at the time I’d never seen a female pilot myself and had never thought it could be something I’m could someday do. Fortunately over the past decade the statistics are slowly growing and most airlines and flight schools are encouraging females to join to try and make a once male dominated industry equal

Tell us about your dream to be a commercial airline pilot and the setback you now face with tui closing down their sponsorship programme Once I’d left school I became Cabin Crew for Thomas Cook which inspired me further, everyday I’d meet pilots who’d share their journey of becoming a pilot. The setbacks they’d faced and the different routes available. I took their advice and applied for a number of integrated schools, after lots of exams and interviews I was successful and I picked a school and I was given a start date. Sadly you must pay more than £100,000 for your placeupfront, being in my early 20s this was impossible to do alone.

I sought help from my family who intended to remortgage their house for me but it was not a viable financial option. I am currently taking the modular route which is slightly more cost effective as you pay as you go and can work alongside training. I’ve now completed my private pilot licence.

I can now move on to my ATPL (airline transport pilot licence) Commercial licence, multi engine licence, instrument rating… the list goes on. There’s currently a national shortage for pilots and the aviation industry has stepped up to make becoming a pilot more accessible. TUI who I currently work for as cabin crew were first to step up back in 2024 with their MPL sponsorship, full training to fly their Boeing 737 fleet as a second officer with all finances covered by the airline themselves. A groundbreaking move which has since sparked interest for other UK airlines who have followed suit. Unfortunately it was announced in late December that TUIs MPL scholarship won’t be running this year as they don’t require the pilot demand they’d anticipated for 2028.

If it’s taught me anything it’s to never give up,there’s always a way around your challenges and quitting should never be an option if you truly want to achieve your dreams.

Happy Mondays Interview by Carl

In celebration of the 35 anniversary of their classic album ‘Pills ‘n’ Thrills And Bellyaches’ , the Happy Mondays are heading out on a 22-date tour in March and April 2026 th In celebration of the 35 of their classic album ‘Pills ‘n’ Thrills And Bellyaches’, the Happy Mondays are heading out on a 22-date tour in March and April 2026

When you revisit Pills 'N' Thrills And Bellyaches now, what hits you first —the sound of it, or the madness around it?

[Shaun Ryder] You know what? Because we got back together with the Mondays in 1999, I've been playing those songs for so long that it all just becomes second nature. I mean, you know, we go out on tour, and we do tracks off the first album, Squirrel and G-Man, we do a couple off Bummed, and then we do the Pills 'N' Thrills and Bellyaches stuff. So it all sort of flows together now, you know what I mean? I don't sit there thinking, "Oh, this is that iconic album," even though everyone else does. To me, they're

ust our tunes. But it still sounds good like it could've been made today. I don't really notice the years on it because we've never stopped playing the bloody thing. It's part of the furniture now.

Thirty-five years on, which moment in the live set still gives you the biggest buzz?

[Shaun Ryder] Well, that's changed loads over the years. I mean, I've gone through phases where I've absolutely hated everything — hated touring, hated myself, hated the lifestyle and then phases where I've loved it and then hated it again. But now? Now I just enjoy it more than ever. It's mad. I get a buzz now

more than I did when we were kids. Maybe it's because the sex and drugs have gone and now it's just the rock 'n' roll road. And I'm enjoying the road. You get older, and you appreciate the crowds more, the band more, the songs more. I get a buzz off the whole thing every night, and I never expected that.

When you think back to the Mondays' wildest days, what moment still feels completely unreal?

[Bez] Mate, the unreal thing is simply that we're actually still in the band all the Happy Mondays after all this time. That's the bit that blows my mind. If you'd thought back all those years ago, when we set out as young fellas chasing a dream, causing chaos everywhere we went, you'd never have imagined we'd be here now as sixty-odd-year-old fellas, planning gigs and getting the band back together again. That's the moment. Just being here, still doing it, still being the Happy Mondays. The fact that we survived it all, physically and mentally, is unbelievable.

How do you cope with remembering lyrics today and how important has the autocue been?

Shaun) If you take the autocue away, forget it. I'd be starting a song with the second verse, mixing lines up. Now I know why — it's my ADHD, dyslexia, all the things I've got going on in my head y

sheets of paper on the floor, and even then, I'd still get lost. Once I got an autocue, around 2000, that was it, finally, I could keep up. People go, "But you wrote it!" And I say, "If you wrote a book, try getting onstage and reading it perfectly under lights with 5,000 people staring at you!" Some people have photographic memories — I don't. We played with Bowie in the early '90s, and even he had a massive lyric screen he'd glance at. If it's good enough for Bowie, it's good enough for me.

Shaun, your partnership with Bez has survived everything—what keeps that bond strong after all these years?

[Shaun] Our friendship is like a sexless marriage. We don't have sex and that's why it works. I know he wants to, but he's not managing it. We are married… and sexless.

LIVERPOOL STEPS UP VACCINATION DRIVE AFTER UK LOSES MEASLES ELIMINATION STATUS

BRIAN PHILLIP

MR OLD HALL STREET

COMMUNITY CAMPAIGNER, WINNER OF THE ORIGINAL INSPIRATION AWARD AT THE LIVERPOOL LIFESTYLE AWARDS

I believe if I had not got an award at the Lifestyle Awards I may have never Seen my son again. I will always be grateful to Lifestyle for that. I also gained so much respect for the business people of our city, a lot of business have got involved after news of the award reached so many people.

I was at the lowest point in my life after 35 years of drug addiction. I ended up homeless and I was about to give up and for some reason I don't even know why' I ended up on Old Hall Street. I remember the first night in the doorway I was soaking wet and very cold. I was woken up by a lady with a lovely smile ,she was holding a full breakfast and a coffee. She didn't say anything but I'll always remember her smile, she just walked away and I thought how kind she was.

I was in the doorway for a few days getting to know people when a lady turned up with a fold up bed and the people were so lovely.

I just said I can't do this anymore and I don't know to this day how I stopped take drugs but I did. I turned my doorway into a little apartment I had pictures on the wall carpet and a massive geto blaster

I would sing and dance every day for my dinner the people love me and I love them I bought my top hat and Mr Old Hall Street was born. I started helping the homeless ,the people I now consider my brothers and sisters and then the Liverpool Echo did a story on me called me the happiest homeless man in Liverpool. Kingsway House opened and I moved in as the streets were freezing and I thought I would die. Now I probably have over 100 volunteers for all walks of life. I am getting a bit old now at 63 so I have decided that this year the team Mr Old Hall Street kitchen family will

y if anything should happen to me my homeless brothers and sisters will still be looked after by my charity my legacy to my homeless brothers and sisters. I am very well now and it's lovely when people I don't even know shake my hand and say you should be proud of yourself ,but in life I treat everyone the same I have some very rich friends no but they get treated just like my homeless brothers and sisters because no matter what you have, it's what is in your hart that matters.

I try to tell everyone to never give up and never give in. I have also ventured into helping people with mental health problems me and my friend Alan have started a walk and talk group on a Sunday and bits helping so many things we can do in the community. My advice to anyone in the same situation as I was get yourself a top hat and make as much noise as you can let everyone know. I have turned my life around and you can do the same.
