So much loss. It’s over a year since Covid-19 began to wreak havoc on our lives. From loss of senses, to the loss of loved ones. From a few weeks’ furlough, to the permanent loss of jobs, businesses and good health. And for countless people Covid-19 has intensified the misery of already miserable lives. Pre-existing struggles with mental illness, poverty or bringing up a child with severe disabilities or behavioural issues; living with acute loneliness, the frailty and vulnerability of old age or in fear of abuse. All have been exacerbated by the pandemic. People of all ages in our Manchester Jewish Community need The Fed’s support more than ever before, and in greater numbers. They need us so they can put food on the table for their kids or cope with the relentless soundtrack of frightening thoughts. They need us to relieve the excruciating anguish of weeks and months spent not seeing another soul; to escape the persistent stress of steering clear of the next punch or kick and the consequences when you don’t . . . On Pesach when we celebrate freedom, The Fed desperately needs your support so that we can give people the key to freedom from misery and bring joy and hope back into their lives.
