According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 20 million Americans are living with coronary artery disease (CAD) – the same one responsible for around one in four deaths annually.
The most common form of heart disease, CAD is the result of plaque buildup that narrows arteries. Narrowed vessels can restrict blood flow, oxygen and nutrients, causing symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath and fatigue. A full blockage greatly increases the risk of a heart attack.
Don’t let CAD go undetected. Cardiac computed tomography (CT) Heart Score is a non-invasive imaging test that detects and measures calcium deposits in the coronary arteries. When calcium is present, a higher score means a higher risk of heart disease.
Speak to your doctor today to find out more about getting your CT Heart Score.* To schedule testing, call Manatee Diagnostic Center at 941-747-3034.

Several Manatee Chamber Committees were hard at work during the Fall months to recommend a set of priorities to our Board of Directors. Once approved, Chamber leaders are equipped to talk with our elected officials and state agencies about priorities for the greater Manatee County region. This year, our priorities cover important topics including:
• Business & Community Resiliency
• Economic Development
• Education & Workforce Innovation
• Health & Workforce Wellness
• Natural Resources
• Transportation & Infrastructure
• Tax & Regulation
*Note: Not pictured - Representative Bill Conerly, who met with our group in Tallahassee

The Manatee Chamber’s public policy work, with the critical involvement of our members, provides ongoing advocacy so that the voice of business is represented. Your membership investment fuels our work, which is grounded through the participation of hundreds of Chamber members on our committees, task forces, councils, and Board of Directors. Chamber committees meet regularly to assess issues affecting our region.
Each year, our Legislative Committee pulls together priorities from all of these committees' input to create our State and Federal legislative agenda. Once approved by the Chamber's Board of Directors, it is the foundation for advocacy work. The result is effective, well-rounded policy positions that strengthen our voice.
In December, several members of our Legislative Committee spent two days in Tallahassee presenting our priorities while meeting with our Florida House and Senate representatives. With the 2026 Florida legislative session now underway, we will be tracking legislation and prioritizing opportunities for our elected officials to hear from the business community as they consider their stances. While in Tallahassee, we spent time with the Florida Chamber to hear an overview of how the winter legislative committee weeks had progressed and review important metrics on key economic indicators. A few highlights: Florida is ranked:
• #1 economy in the country
• #1 for new business start-ups and new business migration
• #1 for manufacturing job growth
• #1 for new income migration
Plans are underway to schedule the Manatee Chamber's Politics & Pints event after the Florida legislative session (and possible special sessions) conclude. This will provide our membership with direct access to our Manatee/Sarasota delegation to hear their assessment of the legislative session and, importantly, hear from our members about priorities for the future.

Manatee County’s high school seniors recently stepped into the shoes of a 25 year old navigating adult life. The Manatee Chamber’s Big Bank Theory program is designed to strengthen students’ financial literacy by giving them firsthand experience with real world money management. Each student received a unique profile that included their job, educational level, potential family responsibilities, and a monthly budget to manage.
Students quickly learned the importance of distinguishing between needs and wants as they searched for housing, transportation, childcare, and also compared the costs of name brand versus store brand groceries. Through 15 interactive stations, students experienced the challenges of managing a monthly budget. Many were surprised by the high cost of housing and childcare, along with the added expense of utilities. Some students even got creative finding roommates to help reduce expenses.
This year’s event was made possible thanks to many Chamber members who volunteered their time to staff booths and guide students through each financial scenario. Volunteers noted how seriously students approached the experience. One shared, “I expected students to be unrealistic at first, but they took the entire experience seriously and made very intentional decisions.” Another volunteer recalled a student saying, “How do my parents do this?”
Since 2010, the Manatee Chamber has delivered the Big Bank Theory program to local high schools, and this year expanded to eleven campuses, engaging more than 3,800 seniors. This would not be possible without the dedication of our volunteers and the support of our generous sponsors. Thank you!

150+ Chamber Volunteers Needed to Reach 4th Grade Classrooms Across Manatee County on Thursday, March 12
Project TEACH is designed to increase career awareness among 4th grade students. For many of the children, this is one of the first times they have had a business volunteer in their classroom and the first time they have been exposed to careers other than those of their parents.
More than 150 volunteers will be needed to reach every classroom. Volunteers help the students with an activity that encourages the students to explore a job/career for their future. The volunteer uses prompts to share their own career pathway and talk about what they do for their job.
An orientation and breakfast will be provided before volunteers head to their classrooms. If you have a specific school or teacher request, please let us know when registering as a volunteer. Volunteering is EASY and takes only a few hours of your time.
Schedule on March 12:
7:00 AM Orientation breakfast at Wakeland Support Center (optional for repeat volunteers)
8:45 AM Arrive at assigned school
9:00–10:00 AM Classroom activity
IMPORTANT: Sponsors are needed to support Project TEACH and the volunteer orientation breakfast. If you would like valuable exposure for your business, please contact Deborah Perry at DeborahP@ManateeChamber.com, or 941-749-4842, ext. 124.

Featuring: Ben Cherington, Pittsburgh Pirates General Manager

The long-standing tradition of baseball and Bradenton goes together like balls and strikes – or maybe like peanuts and Cracker Jacks! Join us on Monday, February 9th for our Manatee Chamber Headliners Luncheon as Pittsburgh Pirates General Manager Ben Cherington gives us the inside scoop on all things baseball, including the upcoming Spring Training season and how the team’s offseason strategy builds towards opening day.
Even if you are not a die-hard baseball fan, the economic and philanthropic impact of the Pirates – and Bradenton Marauders – has made a big difference in our region for many decades. The organization is an integral part of Manatee County, having called the Bradenton area their southern home since 1969. They give back to the community and are deeply involved in non-profit and business efforts. USA Today dubbed LECOM Park "the definition of ballpark intimacy" and the "Fenway of spring parks."
Ben Cherington began serving as the general manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates in November 2019. He previously served as vice president of baseball operations for the Toronto Blue Jays and was

the executive vice president and general manager of the Boston Red Sox from 2011 to 2015. He holds his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and has a master's degree in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
You don’t have to know what ERA, WHIP, RBI, or OPS mean to appreciate that “America’s favorite pastime” continues to occupy a special place - symbolizing tradition, community, and the spirit of sports in America. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about the Pittsburgh Pirates’ special place in the Bradenton Area, how the team is preparing for the MLB season, and meet executive staff from the organization.

News of the demise of organic social media reach has been greatly exaggerated. In this workshop, you will learn why organic visibility has declined on major platforms, what that actually means for brands, and most importantly, how this negative trend can be overcome. The focus is practical: replacing random posting with tactics, a clear strategy, and a measurement and optimization loop that improves performance over time. You will leave with a repeatable approach for engineering reach so content travels beyond your follower base, plus the tools to track what is working, diagnose what is not, and systematically increase organic reach with the resources you already have.

Thank you for joining us at the Manatee River Youth Sailing's very first Manatee Chamber Business After Hours! We sincerely appreciate your time, interest, and genuine support. Our mission is both simple and powerful: to keep kids on the water, where they can learn lifelong skills, build confidence, and experience the joy that sailing brings. We aim to support and promote the sport of sailing for the youth of Manatee County and surrounding areas in an atmosphere of fun and fellowship. We strive to instill values of sportsmanship, responsibility, self-reliance, and respect for authority, equipment, and the marine environment. Your presence at our event underscores the vital role of community partnerships in making all this possible.
Many in our community may not even know that we are teaching youth sailing right here, which limits the opportunities for young people to participate. Your help in sharing our mission can significantly broaden these pathways and inspire more youth to embrace sailing, creating invaluable experiences and lifelong memories.
We are also grateful for any opportunities for collaboration, community engagement, support, or sponsorship. Together, we can expand youth sailing in our area, ensuring that every child eager to learn has the chance to experience the water safely and confidently.
We truly value your support and thank you for being involved with Manatee River Youth Sailing; to learn more, please contact emily@manateeriveryouthsailing.com.

It is truly a privilege to work alongside the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and its fine member businesses to make our community a better place to live, work, and grow.”

We appreciate everyone who took time out of their busy schedule to come out to see what the Fair looks like before all of the hustle and bustle begins. We hope everyone enjoyed the Coffee Club event and the Manatee County Fair this year. In addition, we would like to thank our sponsors for their generous support and the numerous volunteers who helped make our Fair such a huge success.
Planning for the 2027 Manatee County Fair has already begun, and we would like to invite all businesses to consider sponsorship to help support local agricultural programs.
In addition to the annual Fair, our fairgrounds are open year-round to host local, state, and national events. We invite all 501c3 Organizations to consider allowing us the opportunity to host your next event.
