What Does it Mean to be a Better Business Council (BBC) Member?
Members of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce who have been in business locally for at least 12 months are eligible to apply for membership. Businesses must submit a completed application including license and insurance information, local references, and a signed agreement pledging to adhere to the BBC “Code of Ethics”. Each application is thoroughly reviewed, all information is verified, and references contacted prior to membership approval.
We encourage Chamber members to join the BBC to stand out among their competition and to let consumers know they are committed to delivering the highest level of customer service. Shop local and look for the BBC logo in stores and online to find businesses you can count on.

The Better Business Council (BBC) is a program of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce that offers referrals for local businesses that are members of the Council, acts as a resource for consumers, and publicizes important scam information. Here are just a few ways we can help you get the answers you need:
• Local Business Referrals: The BBC offers referrals for local businesses that have been prescreened and adhere to high standards. We proudly recommend BBC members.
• License Verification: Unsure if your contractor is licensed? Contact the BBC or the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations at 850-487-1395 or www.myfloridalicense. com.
• Insurance Requirements: Verify if your contractor carries the correct insurance. The BBC can help answer your questions or direct you to the right resources regarding insurance for commercial vehicles and Worker’s Compensation.
• Comprehensive Directory: Our Directory lists BBC members committed to high standards. They are screened for license and insurance requirements and have signed a customer service pledge. You can trust doing business with a BBC member.
