At Birdsong Kitchen, Sharlene Sallabanks combines premium ingredients with a touch of magic to create edible masterpieces in her Springston home kitchen, where she follows an MPI Food Control Plan. Sharlene’s journey is one of heart and resilience. A former primary school teacher, she began Birdsong Kitchen four years ago after the loss of her daughter, Eva, who was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia at just five years old. After years of treatment, including a bone marrow transplant at Starship Hospital during New Zealand’s first COVID-19 lockdown, Eva passed away two years after her diagnosis.
