Lions Clubs New Zealand is part of a global organisation with 1.4 million members in 208 countries and geographic regions. The local region consists of seven Lions Clubs - Akaroa and Bays, Halswell, Ellesmere, Malvern, Rolleston, Selwyn and Wigram. The Selwyn Lions Club consists of a group of approximately nineteen ladies, just ordinary people from all walks of life who enjoy getting together and helping the community. They are kind and generous people who are keen and get enormous satisfaction from working on various projects, as well as protecting the environment. The group enjoy the friendship with other like-minded ladies and has fun while doing so. Various committees are appointed to oversee fundraising and coordinate activities. Their focus is on raising funds to distribute to various groups and organisations in need. Applications for funds are always well received and given serious consideration.
