It's not long until local performers Nicole Schaap and Sean Bennett head to Los Angeles to represent New Zealand at the World Championship of Performing Arts. Nicole will be singing in five categories - Original Song, Open Category, Pop, Soul and Rock. The New Zealand Black Star Team head to the States on Monday, July 24th, for two weeks. Sixty-seventy countries are competing over the

week, with various ages and performing categories. Nicole said, “The support from the community, her family and friends has been amazing, and she would like to thank them all so much. Her fundraising goal was $7,500, and she has achieved this over the past eight months through gigging, busking, her give-a-little page, raffles and hosting a local music festival, which about two hundred people attended. “A very special thanks to Mum

way,” Nicole concluded. Nicole has been training and preparing with her vocal coach and mentor Sacha Vee, at SOLE Music Academy. The contestants have sixty seconds per category to win the judges over, and each category requires a different outfit to suit. She is aiming to bring home some gold medals but is super happy she gets the opportunity to take part in this amazing competition. Nicole will be joined by her Mum Sally as a supporter.
