DARFIELD SENIOR’S SECURE TITLE WITH ALL-ROUND PERFORMANCE The Canterbury Country Senior Cricket final between Anzco Foods Darfield Senior B's and the Sefton Senior team took place at Mainpower Oval in Rangiora on Saturday, March 22. Anzco Foods Darfield Senior B's won the toss and elected to bat. Raash Mukherjee and Captain Will Davidson opened the batting, but Will was given LBW in the first over. Nick Gilbert came in at first drop and, together with Raash, built a 52-run partnership before Nick was caught out in the 12th over. Andrew Bell, hoping to replicate his impressive 128run performance in the semifinal, joined Raash at the crease. However, Raash was dismissed in the 18th over. Andrew and new batter Karl Josephs remained together until the 27th over, with Andrew being caught out after scoring 39 runs. Karl was then

joined by Nick Jenkins, who stayed in until the 35th over before being bowled out. Bodie Hawkins came in briefly before also being dismissed. Karl and Jack Kennedy batted through the remainder of the 40 overs, bringing Darfield to a final score of 6/201. Karl top scored with an unbeaten 47 runs (not out), contributing
significantly to the team’s strong total. The Sefton openers stayed in for five overs before Jack Kennedy got his first wicket. Nick Jenkins secured his first wicket in the 10th over,
followed by Dave Beatty taking his first wicket in the 11th over. Nick Jenkins then delivered a crucial 14th over, getting two more wickets, leaving Sefton struggling at 5/71. Continue on page 12...
