Pictured with their flock of ‘sheeples’, comedians Amelia Dunbar (left) and Emma Newborn are excited to bring The Bitches’ Box characters to life on the big screen. When it comes to New Zealand -made movies it’s all about location, location - and what better location than Waddington, right in the heart of the Malvern district. A new movie based on the popular The Bitches’ Box, a

series of fast-paced, multicharacter comedy shows starring comedians Amelia Dunbar and Emma Newborn, has just finished a two-week filming stint on location at D er ek Bu ll’ s far m in Waddington.

Over the last two weeks within the daggy confines of the Bull family’s historic wool shed, the two comedians acting in their Jack Russell personas, a cast of cuddly ‘sheeples’, energetic film crew and a couple of yet to be announced

characters/actors have all been working hard on the first section of the film. Producer Rob Malloch says the production company was given the full run of the farm sheds, which sit beside State Highway 73. “It was the best blank canvas and its location was perfect for the creative vision of the film” The next block of filming will see the production move to Amelia’s home, High Peak Station in Windwhistle, and then on to Ashburton, where somewhere along the way the two ‘dogs’ will experience a visit to the vets. Rob says it will take around six weeks all up to complete the filming. The company, ‘Beaut Neut’, named in line with the story about the two Jack Russells being neutered, has partner ed with Rialto Distribution and expects the film to be in cinemas mid2024.
