The Reverend ‘Aunty Lyn’ Sopoaga’s Ordination The most joyous service was held at Trinity Church, Darfield, on Sunday, May 28th 2023, for the occasion of Aunty Lyn’s Ordination as a Minister of the Presbyterian Church. Four and a half years ago, when Lyn first drove to Darfield from Christchurch for her meeting with the Ministry Settlement Board, she had no idea how long it would take and arrived several hours early. Needing to fill in time, she went to Darfield Bakery, which she had already heard about, and then on to Doughboys and Fat Beagle as well! Since settling in Darfield, she has visited many local businesses and industries, dairy, sheep and cropping farms, gaining insight into what this district is all about. Lyn stated, “I’m now part of a community where the word ‘unity’ in ‘community’ is essentially that.” Lyn’s home church, St. Paul’s Trinity Pacific Presbyterian

Aunty Lyn’s Ordination was a joyous celebration. Church, joined members of Lynmaree’s family and numerous people from around the district in attending this very special Ordination Service. Alpine Presbytery Moderator, Reverend Phyllis Harris led the service, with Reverends Marty Redhead, Martin Stewart, Makesi Alatimu and Michael Reid also participating.
