Coronation celebrations were happening all around the world last weekend, including various activities in the Malvern area. It was great to see the Hororata community spirit alive and kicking on Saturday, May 6th. Three ladies, Sharon Huck, Sheena Broughton and Aimee Theobald brought their idea of having a community event that was low key and would bring people together alive. So, the ‘Hororata Coronation Community Picnic’ was organised with the emphasis on ‘getting to know your neighbourhood’. The picnic was held at Hororata Domain on the day of King Charles III's Coronation.
The event was a great success, with people from around the community coming together, sharing afternoon high tea and getting to know each other. Special thanks goes to Sam Adkins, from Sammy’s Rust and Custom for bringing the fantastic Noddy Train and Alice Wright, from Cheap Bouncy Castle Hire Canterbury, for the super fun bouncy castle, both donating their time and equipment for all the kids, young and old to enjoy. One of the royal corgis turned up bearing scones, jam and cream, and we must thank Sarah Barrett from Hororata Cafe and Bar for allowing the corgi to attend.
