Last Sunday, approximately 100 people attended the Sheffield Community Picnic at the Domain. This fabulous community event was organised by the Locals Club in conjunction with the Selwyn District Council (SDC). SDC provided kites, giant games and a free sausage sizzle, as well as, the library van with the 3D printer and virtual reality. The One Scoop or Two Ice Cream truck from Lincoln were very busy selling ice creams on such a beautiful warm summer’s day. The conditions were perfect, with the right amount of breeze for some great kite flying. Chris and Nic McLaren from Waddington tempted attendees with samples of their BBQ steak and lamb, as they fundraised for their trip to the Texas BBQ Championship in two weeks. The old fashioned egg and spoon and sack races were a real hit with the children. Everyone had a wonderful day, and the Locals Club would like to thank all those that attended. They are looking forward to hosting the Community Picnic again next year.
