This week, is the final week of classes for the very loved, dedicated and talented student Georgina Prosser. From 2023, Georgie will continue her dance training full time at Brent Street in Sydney. Brent Street is one of Australia’s most prestigious performing arts schools, with a history of producing creative stars and working with many who already have successful stage careers. Happiest when she is dancing and dedicated to a career in the field, Georgie attends classes at TM Dance World (TMDW) and Malvern Ballet School, completing about twelve hours of lessons over five days a week. In addition to training with her Elite Dance troupe at school, which is another three hours a week. She also practices in her own time as much as she can, including lunch times and free periods at school, and has choreographed and taught other students both at school and with TMDW over the last few years. On Sunday, December 4th, Georgie was awarded a 100 percent pass mark for her Level 7 Asia Pacific Dance Association (APDA) Contemporary exam and 99.5 percent for her APDA Jazz exam. Georgie is now working towards sitting her advanced foundation Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Classical exam. “It is very exciting for both Saba Pieters (Malvern Ballet) and I to have a student wanting to pursue a career in dance, if anyone can do it Georgie can!” commented TM Dance World Director, Tara Marshall. Brent Street accept students by audition, and this year the Academy visited Christchurch, offering workshops for aspiring dancers and inviting students to audition to join them in Sydney. Georgie attended for the experience, not dreaming she would be picked, but was selected for an interview by Zoom a few days later, before being offered a place at their Academy. It led to a couple of weeks of hard decisions for her family, but Georgie accepted the offer and will now make the move to Sydney with her mum in January. Once term starts, she will complete her Year 12 and 13 academic studies each day with morning tuition, before dance training in the afternoons and into the evenings. “We will be following Georgie closely and can't wait to see where the next steps take her! We wish Georgie and her family all the very best, and we will miss you,” concluded Tara.
