Local cricketer, Zak Foulkes, has recently been signed by the Brisbane-based, Sea Eagles KFC T20MAX Squad for the 22/23 season. Zak (20 years old) is a top-order batsman and right-hand medium pacer, and he has already made his First Class Debut earlier this year. The Sea Eagles can’t wait to have him at the Nest! Another local, Robbie Frew, has recently been selected for the Over 50’s Canterbury/Otago Mainlanders Division 1 Squad, who will play in the InterProvincial Tournament (IPT). The Mainlanders won both Division 1 and Division 2 at last season's IPT and will be looking to defend both titles in Tauranga in December. The team has a very strong batting lineup, with past and present New Zealand representatives in John Garry, Kelvin Scott and Brent Fleming and newcomer Robbie Frew, who scored nearly 2,000 first-class and List-A runs for Canterbury, including three centuries.

Robbie was also made a Life Member of Darfield Cricket Club at their AGM, on August 8th. Rob has been involved with Darfield Cricket since he was a boy and makes important contributions in his current roles as curator, committee member, mentor and coach. “We are very grateful to have Robbie as part of our Club and community, and this Life Membership is our way of recognising your valuable contribution,” commented Senior Club Captain, Shannon McAleer. Darfield Cricket Club President, Dave Beatty has been selected
