by John Wambles
One of the best ways to start any festival is with a dance. The Kick-Off Dance, held in Downtown Paris, officially begins the fun of the last full week of April, known as Fish Fry. Bring your lawn chairs, spread out a blanket or feel free to dance all night long as the Ray Lewis Band transforms the Court Square into an amazing Street Dance.
The music starts playing at 7pm and will last until 9pm, Monday. Aprl 20th. There is no charge for the event. Everyone is invited, just remember it is a school night.
The music never stops at the World’s Biggest Fish Fry! The dance moves to
the Henry County Fairgrounds on Tuesday Night. The Country Dance will begin at 7pm, Tuesday, April 21st, in the Enoch Building. The country dancers prefer this event because it is indoors. It doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold outside – it will be just right in the Enoch Building. There are seats available for spectators and to rest between dances and snacks available for purchase.
This year’s Country Dance will again feature one of Henry County’s favorites, The James Greer Band. Even if you are not a dancer you will enjoy some great music and watching the line dancers put on a show. The band will play until 10pm. Admission is only $5 per
person. The Henry County Jaycees invite you to be a part of this years Country Dance.
The music continues into Wednesday. The Fish Fry features a Contemporary Christian Concert under the Pavilion at the Henry County Fairgrounds. The Nathan Shoemaker Band will be providing the inspiration for this event. A Love Offering will be taken with a $5 suggestion encouraged per person. The concert will begin at 7pm. Wednesday, April 22nd

Up to See the Grand Parade Thousands of Spectators Line Up to See the Grand Parade
by John Wambles
Everyone loves “Fish Fry Day.” That is what the locals call Friday of Fish Fry Week. It all gets started with a Grand Parade that will begin at 10am, April
24th, on East Wood Street. The Grand Parade is now known as the Dwayne Baldwin Grand Parade.
The Jaycees have renamed the parade in dedication to long time Jaycee and Parade Coordinator, Dwayne
Baldwin. His service and dedication to the World’s Biggest Fish Fry will forever remain as an example of a good Henry County Jaycee.
The sheer volume of participants are what make
The Jaycees have not changed the route this year so everyone knows just where to go and the best place to park to see the whole thing. It is important to remember not to block driveways along the parade route. They usually start shutting down streets around 9am so it is best to arrive early and get your favorite
As usual bands will meet and line up at Ogburn Park, located directly behind the East Wood Church of Christ. Floats will line up on East Wood Street and other vehicles will remain in the Church parking lot until they are directed to join the procession. Also, the horses will be unloaded at the lower level of Ogburn Park.
Regardless of your number in the parade you will proceed in the order that you arrive. This is to cut down on confusion, unnecessary congestion and to make the flow easier for
all involved. For safety purposes no candy will be thrown from floats into the crowd, there will be no fire works or poppers permitted in the Grand Parade. All judging will be done prior to the start of the parade. It is important that you arrive at your designated time and be ready for judging.
