Importance of Export Documentation Export documentation is required by both the exporting and importing customs authorities to complete the shipment process. Exporters are advised to accurately fill in the necessary documentation and declarations to avoid costly fines and delays. While it is possible to complete the documentation independently, you may also choose to engage the services of a freight forwarding company, which

can act as your agent in performing various functions. It is important to work with the Kenya Trade Network Agency (KenTrade), a state agency under the National Treasury, mandated to facilitate cross-border trade and to establish, manage, and implement the National Electronic Single Window System (Trade Facilitation Platform).
