Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) Opens Avocado Season for Kenya’s Exporters The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) has officially announced the opening of the 2025/2026 avocado export season for sea shipments, effective 2nd April 2026. This decision follows a field survey confirming improved fruit maturity across key production zones after a period of restriction. The season will commence with harvesting for export via sea shipment

on 2nd April 2026, followed by the start of mandatory packhouse inspections for all fresh produce on 7th April 2026. The harvesting of avocados intended for oil processing will begin on 30th April 2026, as these require higher maturity indices. Read more:
